I have a code passanger restraint failure that will not come off unless I pay $2700 to fix. This coding came on after 3 months of getting the vehicle and I’m not the only with the same issue. This is a dangerous situation that BMW is not recalling but putting this as the owners expense. If I were to get in an accident this will not deploy airbags or open the seat belt this can cause sever injuries or worst death.

The contact owns a 2017 BMW 530i. The contact stated that while driving with the front passenger's side seat unoccupied, a message that the front passenger's side seat belt was not on was displayed. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in a recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact received a related limited extended warranty coverage letter from the manufacturer and contacted the manufacturer for assistance; however, the manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
I purchased a used BMW from apolo auto in new jersey around July 2021 the car was in perfect condition and it did not appear to have any mechanical or electrical defects. However, the prior owner had many aftermarket things done to the car and that was a big selling point as it was upgraded with low miles. After purchasing the vehicle some strange things started happening but I didn't pay close attention, and then my son was kidnapped from my home may 2022. It was at the beginning of June 2022 that I noticed we were being tracked, and private conversations inside the vehicle were publicly being communicated. I found evidence of infrared and bluetooth technology as well as gps tracking technology and specific infrared technology is in the ceiling of the vehicle. The devices are close together & many. The vehicle was vandalized several times, broken into and the seatbelts in the back were pushed inwards so that I couldn't place my child into a proper seatbelt. I reported this to the insurance company and BMW in PA failed to repair the vandalism and they also failed to remove the tracking devices which I recently found. The highway violence consists of many vehicle swerving into my lane many times one after another, and I've almost crashed my car several times. Many instances have happened where motorcycles have pulled up next to the car at a stop light to rev up their engines to the point where my son beings to cry and it happens often. The consistently and level of aggressive behaviors have put my life in danger as well as my child's since he's special needs and can't be safely secured into his seatbelt due to vandalism, there are strange vehicles attempting to run us off the road on a regular basis, my vehicle has had significant mechanical vandalism which has yet to be repaired and it is known that the car is vulnerable therefore it is exploited. I fear the vandalism, tracking and consistent assaults on the road will cause our car to crash, injuring others.

My car is producing a warning light for "passenger restraint system malfunction". This is a safety hazard and it is not covered by warranty. I believe this should be investigated and a recall should be mandated as many people have this issue. The cost to fix is over $2,500 and BMW should bear the cost of this safety issue.
Passenger restraint system malfunction warning keeps appearing. This car has never been in an accident or had any moisture, spills etc. That would cause that to happen. I'm reporting it as an issue due to the many complaints by BMW customers with the same issue. BMW charges $2500 to fix for this very common problem.
I recently took my vehicle in for a service due to "passenger system restraint" error code. Upon dealer inspection it would cost upwards of 4,000$ to fix this issue. I called my warranty company and they do not warranty any repairs that have to do with restraint systems. This seems to be a widespread issue from what I have read. This can really cause a major issue if the seatbelt for the passenger side does not work upon a collision. This has to be putting people in a serious situation and should be investigated. Thanks for your time.

The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 19v273000 (engine and engine cooling) and 22v119000 (engine and engine cooling) however, the parts to do the recall repairs were not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The contact stated that air bag and seat belt warning lights were illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was informed that air bag and seat belt needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage 100,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

Passenger restraint system malfunction. This is what randomly and constantly pops up. The fasten seat alert goes off the whole time I’m riding, although no one is in the passenger seat. I took it to the BMW service center twice and each time they keep my vehicles for hours, just to say they couldn’t duplicate the issue.
The passenger seat alerts me that the passenger seat belt is unbuckled even though nothing, or no one is in the seat.
Fault in passenger-restraint system affecting airbag, belt tensioner or belt-force limiter.
Car vibrates when ac is on. Passenger seat belt buzzes when no one is in the seat as well as seat belt tighten while driving. Transmission hesitant at times. ( transmission warning light come on at times, when car has already been service).

My computer is showing : passenger restraint system failure. I called the BMW recall system and I was told that my car is not covered, however, I found BMW recall of the passenger restraint system for e60 (my model car) can you help and contact the BMW recall center. They need to expand their recall. It is unsafe to drive a car with failed passenger restrained system. I did submit the information regarding current recall in attachment.
While driving message will pop up regarding passanger's seat belt and even driver was fasten the seat belt message will pop up in the screen to fasten the seat belt. It will start after 20 minutes of driving.
Car issued a safety warning concerning, "passenger restraint system malfunction" stating the passenger restraint system is limited. Warning shows up when passenger seat empty and when car is stationary or moving. Dealership service center verified vehicle had error code but stated they "believe" it is moisture in the sensor and instructed me to redirect air conditioning to floor when warning comes on screen. Concerned about whether this is really just a sensor problem that should be ignored or if there is actually a safety problem with the restraint system.
Takata seat belts issue with front passenger side.
Tl- the contact owns a 2007 BMW 530i us a. The contact stated that on several occasions while the front passenger seat belt was connected, the safety seat air bag light illuminated. The contact stated that the message indicated that the front passenger seat occupant detection mat was faulty. The vehicle was taken to ferman BMW located at 31400 us hwy 19 n, palm harbor, FL 34684 at (727) 785-3900 where it was diagnosed that the seat belt needed to be replaced. The contact was advised to call NHTSA. The approximate failure mileage was 101,000. Lt.
Passenger side seat sensor defective. Alerted me that the passenger side seatbelt was unbuckled for over a month. Took replacing the seat to fix.
My car do not go pass 50 miles per hour.
When my front passenger seat is occupied, during startup the car chimes with an error "pass restraint system" "fault in passenger-restraint system affecting airbag, belt tensioner or belt force limiter" "continue to wear the safety belt" (vehicle was stationary) BMW has issued a recall for this problem but oddly my VIN is not part of the group included.
The airbag light and the seatbelt light came on, this is a safety issue so I don't know if the car of that year had a recall or not . . It was city street.
The vehicle airbag system is malfunctioning. There were recalls related to the BMW but my vehicle doesnt appear to be included in this recall when I search by VIN number. I contacted the dealer and they said my vehicle isnt covered. The airbag light and restraint light is on and my head unit says there is a fault in my passenger restraint system.

I have a 2006 BMW 530i (make: 03/05). Two days back, while I was driving home from work (highway), suddenly the message, "passenger restraint malfunction" came up and when I researched about this, I found that there is a recall for the 2006 BMW 530i's for this issue (recall subject : front seat occupant protection mat, NHTSA campaign number: 13v564000) . But, when I emailed BMW regarding the issue, they said my VIN is not included in the recall list. I am not sure why all the cars are not included when they are made in same year and same model. I am attaching the screenshot of the email that BMW customer care has sent me and also of the error message in the car. This has become a safety issue for my car now. So, could you please look into this issue and resolve this for me. Thank you in advance.
I bought this car last year with 140,000 miles on it. The passenger side airbag light and seatbelt light both came on after maybe a month of driving. I took it to the BMW shop and they said that it came on because I had something heavy sitting in the seat---nothing heavier than my purse. They wanted to charge me a diagnosis fee to turn the light off but I refused. That is not a caution in the handbook so how was I suppose to know that was problem. I'm worried that my seatbelt and airbag may malfunction in the case of an accident. I had the same problem with my 2005 BMW 525.
The contact owns a 2004 BMW 530i. While operating the vehicle, the air bag sensor light and the seat belt sensor light would illuminate along with a message indicating that the front passenger seat restraint system was faulty. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 108,800.
Car screen shows defective passenger restraint and airbags for several weeks. I contacted BMW USA and they said there is no recall on this car. The other BMW 2001 BMW 325i/[xxx] was sent a letter of recall this past summer but BMW has not told us what to do about having the defect corrected. Can you help? information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Air bag and seat belt warning lights came and stayed on. Warning message on screen "malfunction restraint system -- air bag may not deploy seat belt tensioner nit activated".
I purchased my vehicle from a dealer on April 2014. Approximately a month later, the passenger frontal airbag automatically disabled and the light illuminated on the dashboard. The frontal passenger seatbelt also disabled and the light illuminated on the dashboard. The brake light is also illuminated. In June 2014, my car was hit by a f150 truck. The impact was so forceful, my car was knocked on the other side of the street. Non of the airbags deployed and there were injuries to the driver. My vehicle was repaired and I was informed by the mechanic that the lights illuminated on my dashboard were recalls and a known safety issue with my vehicle's make and model. I researched the information and did find recalls for the frontal airbag and frontal seatbelt. I contacted a BMW dealership a couple of times and I am told my VIN does not show any open recalls and the repairs will be out of pocket. These problems appears to be defects with the vehicle and a definite safety issue.
My 2004 BMW 530i has both the seatbelt and airbag light on display at all times on my dashboard. These lights on are caused by a faulty front passenger seat occupant detection mat which BMW has an extended warranty on. After dropping my car to the BMW dealership to get this repaired, I was informed my extended warranty expired roughly 2 months prior and I cannot have this work performed under warranty. They charged me $140 for the diagnostics and said I would have to pay $1050 out of pocket to get repaired. I immediately reached out to BMW of north America and informed them of my situation as this occurred while my vehicle was still under warranty. I was hoping they could fix my car in good faith as this is a known issue or even provide me with a discounted repair. Unfortunately two months went by with no response. When I reached out again they said no this is not their headache and I am responsible for all costs and repairs related to this. This is a serious malfunction which I am surprised is not considered a recall. In the safety recall notice it specifically states if both warning lamps are illuminated simultaneously, BMW recommends not to use the front passenger seat until the vehicle has been serviced. Also, the safety recall notice says that the front passenger airbags will not deploy even if a sufficiently severe accident would occur and occupant protection provided by the system will not be possible. Obviously this is a huge safety issue which BMW needs to address. An extended warranty on such a sensitive matter is not sufficient and a recall should be issued.
While BMW has recalled many 2005 BMW 530i sedans for the airbag concerns, my VIN is apparently not included in this list. I have contacted BMW directly, as well as many local service departments, with no avail. Both lights indicating seat belt and airbag malfunctions have been illuminated for over a year and I am very concerned that if a crash were to occur, the passengers in the vehicle would not be adequately protected. If there are air bag issues in some BMW 530i sedans, isn't it possible that others may have the same issue?.
