2 Seats problem of the 2019 BMW 530

Failure Date: 05/21/2024

I purchased a used BMW from apolo auto in new jersey around July 2021 the car was in perfect condition and it did not appear to have any mechanical or electrical defects. However, the prior owner had many aftermarket things done to the car and that was a big selling point as it was upgraded with low miles. After purchasing the vehicle some strange things started happening but I didn't pay close attention, and then my son was kidnapped from my home may 2022. It was at the beginning of June 2022 that I noticed we were being tracked, and private conversations inside the vehicle were publicly being communicated. I found evidence of infrared and bluetooth technology as well as gps tracking technology and specific infrared technology is in the ceiling of the vehicle. The devices are close together & many. The vehicle was vandalized several times, broken into and the seatbelts in the back were pushed inwards so that I couldn't place my child into a proper seatbelt. I reported this to the insurance company and BMW in PA failed to repair the vandalism and they also failed to remove the tracking devices which I recently found. The highway violence consists of many vehicle swerving into my lane many times one after another, and I've almost crashed my car several times. Many instances have happened where motorcycles have pulled up next to the car at a stop light to rev up their engines to the point where my son beings to cry and it happens often. The consistently and level of aggressive behaviors have put my life in danger as well as my child's since he's special needs and can't be safely secured into his seatbelt due to vandalism, there are strange vehicles attempting to run us off the road on a regular basis, my vehicle has had significant mechanical vandalism which has yet to be repaired and it is known that the car is vulnerable therefore it is exploited. I fear the vandalism, tracking and consistent assaults on the road will cause our car to crash, injuring others.

3 Seats problem of the 2004 BMW 530

Failure Date: 12/15/2023

The heated seats start fires and BMW refuses to acknowledge that my car should've been a part of the NHTSA recall 04v-575. The dealership denies any issue with the car despite knowing about the hole it burned in my seat.

4 Seats problem of the 2018 BMW 530

Failure Date: 12/10/2023

Passenger restraint system malfunction warning keeps appearing. This car has never been in an accident or had any moisture, spills etc. That would cause that to happen. I'm reporting it as an issue due to the many complaints by BMW customers with the same issue. BMW charges $2500 to fix for this very common problem.

5 Seats problem of the 2018 BMW 530

Failure Date: 09/25/2023

I recently took my vehicle in for a service due to "passenger system restraint" error code. Upon dealer inspection it would cost upwards of 4,000$ to fix this issue. I called my warranty company and they do not warranty any repairs that have to do with restraint systems. This seems to be a widespread issue from what I have read. This can really cause a major issue if the seatbelt for the passenger side does not work upon a collision. This has to be putting people in a serious situation and should be investigated. Thanks for your time.

6 Seats problem of the 2018 BMW 530

Failure Date: 08/16/2023

Passenger restraint system warning is appearing frequently. The dealer service department said the front passenger seat mat needs to be replaced due to faulty front passenger seat occupancy detection. This is a known and common problem impacting front passenger seats but BMW is not recalling even though it impacts air bag deployment. The cost of the repair is estimated to be $2030 at roadshow BMW in cordova, TN.

7 Seats problem of the 2017 BMW 530

Failure Date: 05/10/2023

Front passenger seatbelt indicator is triggered even if there is no one sitting in seat. Unclear if the sensor is too sensitive. For example, if a book is set on the passenger seat, the indicator may go off. Or if I am tapping on the side of the console next to the passenger seat, the indicator may go off.

8 Seats problem of the 2021 BMW 530

Failure Date: 09/12/2021

Driver’s sport seat bottom has 19 degrees of rear tilt in the lowest setting. I am unable to flatten seat bottom causing sciatica nerve pain which causes my legs to fall asleep while driving. I have owned several Bmws with sport seats and this is the first one that has caused problems. Base sport seat needs more adjust to lower degree of rear facing tilt.

9 Seats problem of the 2018 BMW 530

Failure Date: 04/20/2021

Passenger restrain system malfunction where airbags will not deploy if car is in accident. This seems as an issue with Bmws and they had recall before on certain models and years, dealers do not want to process claims under manufacturing warranty to fix an issue even the car is still under manufacturing warranty. Claiming that water could have been spilled seems very convenient not to fix this issues. I took my car to dealer and they ran diagnostic test and charge me $200 to tell me to turn heat in the seat because moisture, sound unfair. Week after that same message came on I am not sure how it is legal for BMW dealers to clear code and send people home and tell them to turn heat in the seat and hopefully problem goes away. Which it did not and there should be recall for this issue especially if airbags are concern.

10 Seats problem of the 2006 BMW 530

Failure Date: 09/21/2020

I was driving on the street with my music in low when I noticed the driver car seat getting hot. I hadn't turned on the heated seats and I touched the passengers seat and it was cool. It was to hit for me to drive I had to sit coward so my back wouldn't touch the seat. It was so uncomfortable and dangerous. I've read a lot of comments of people having this happen to them. I have a 2006 BMW 530i.

11 Seats problem of the 2004 BMW 530

Failure Date: 11/01/2019

Heated seating is burning my leg passenger side. Even on low.

12 Seats problem of the 2007 BMW 530

Failure Date: 07/08/2018

The passenger seat occupancy mat sensor has failed and it has triggered the seat belt and airbag light sensor for my BMW. BMW says it is not under recall, but they have recalled the 2006 BMW e60 (mine is a 2007) for the same problem.

13 Seats problem of the 2004 BMW 530

Failure Date: 05/10/2018

About three years ago, we filed a complaint with BMW north America. A problem with the front passenger seat. There was smoke as a result, a hole burned through. After that an error message about the airbag came on. We also didn't know that there was a recall about this problem. We made several calls to the dealership and at the end, they offered to help with only 50% quote to repair the seat was $2300. 00. The car only had 142,000 miles. All the seats were in mint condition. Thank you.

14 Seats problem of the 2007 BMW 530

Failure Date: 02/03/2018

The front passenger seat occupant detection light is on due to the mat cushion failure. This is very common on BMW and most of them have a recall issued, but not for my 2007. Please advise as the dealership wants $1800 for a new one. Passenger airbag will not work unless replaced.

15 Seats problem of the 2006 BMW 530

Failure Date: 01/01/2018

Passenger seat sensor faulty, airbag disabled. Faults are showing, and warning lights are on. I have called the dealer and BMW USA, both acknowledge an issue but insist my car is not covered. The VIN is not on their roster. BMW recalled 200,000 cars for this problem, in the same year and model. I now have the issue, and it is a clear safety concern for any who might ride in the car.

16 Seats problem of the 2007 BMW 530

Failure Date: 09/04/2017

I received a recall notice from BMW - no. 13v-564 I have gone to two dealerships, including the one where I bought the car brand new and they will not complete the repairs due to a replacement part on hold notice from BMW. They also will not tell me when they can complete the repair. I called BMW and received no help at all, just to try another dealer.

17 Seats problem of the 2017 BMW 530

Failure Date: 08/03/2017

Passenger side seat sensor defective. Alerted me that the passenger side seatbelt was unbuckled for over a month. Took replacing the seat to fix.

18 Seats problem of the 2006 BMW 530

Failure Date: 07/18/2017

Recall 17v-xxx front passenger air bag seat occupancy sensor mat b65 10 17. Last July 2017 my passenger seat airbag/seatbelt warning light was on and cause was faulty passenger seat occupancy detection mat. . It was replaced at the charlottesville BMW dealer on July 18 2017 for $867. 05. Yet this 2006 model is specifically the model with the defect and in the recall. My VIN is not showing that I am eligible for a recall, I do not understand this, as obviously it should have been covered, since this is the specific defect for which the recall has been issued, and this is the specific year and mode BMW which has the defect appearing. Please advise.

19 Seats problem of the 2003 BMW 530

Failure Date: 01/04/2016

I got into my car. Started it. I put my seat belt on and turned on my driver's side seat warmer. I backed out of my driveway and headed to my dr. App. About two blocks from my home I smelled something burning. I started to look around my car while still driving. As I looked left beside my seat I saw smoke coming from between the seat and my back on the left side of the seat. I immediately stopped the car in the road and unbuckled my seat belt. I leaned forward and looked back at my seat where the smoke was coming from. I saw a round hole burned through the grey leather seat with a red glow coming from the hole with a flame. I immediately used my finger to try to snuff out the flame. I then noticed my shirt was also smoking with a hole burned through it. I patted out my shirt and then realized the seat warmer was the problem so I quickly turned it off. I got out of my car to make sure my shirt and seat were not still burning. I was driving on a city street with no turns approximately 2 blocks from my home.

20 Seats problem of the 2006 BMW 530

Failure Date: 01/01/2016

We noticed a warning on our dashboard in January 2016. Being that we are seniors, it was mid- winter and the auto dealership we go to is many miles away, we did not immediately drive to see what the light was on. When we finally did, we were told that the. " recall had expired " and to fix the sensor mat in the passenger seat would cost well over $3,000??? if there was a " recall", should we not have been notified? now we are told the "recall has expired" and we are left with a car that has a fault in the passenger air bag. Why were we not notified of a recall?.

21 Seats problem of the 2006 BMW 530

Failure Date: 12/31/2015

The heated seats have malfunctioned burning a hole and making a large brown area on the driver side seat. This seat will burn you if left on the high setting and has a burning electrical smell. I am afraid that using it again after it burned this hole will cause a full scale fire. Not very happy to have a luxury car that you can't use one of the luxuries of because of a serious danger. These were my first heated seats ever and may be my last, very scary!.

22 Seats problem of the 2006 BMW 530

Failure Date: 10/16/2015

I recently purchased my 2006 530i. The airbag indicator showed a default so I took it my local dealership. I was told that there was a default in the mat sensor and it needs to be replaced at a cost of $781. 72. I researched and found that there was a recall for this exact issue for my make, model and year. I contacted my local dealership as well as BMW north America customer service. I was told by both that my VIN was not included in the recall so the repair is on me. I also see that many other owners have had this same issue. Clearly there is a problem that BMW needs to correct.

23 Seats problem of the 2004 BMW 530

Failure Date: 01/12/2015

I was driving my girlfriend to work when out of nowhere I smelled something burning. At first I thought it was coming from my surrounding area, not my car. I continued to drive not thinking too much of it. As I continued to drive the smell got stronger. I decided to pull over at a convenience store just as precaution. When I stepped out of the car there was no smell, I open the hood, everything looked normal and there was no smell. I I concluded that the smell was coming from the ventilation system. I turn of the heat, it was very cold that morning, turned off the heated seats, and continued to drive. Ten minutes later, I arrived at my girlfriend work place, that's when we realize the smell was coming from the passenger heat. We where shocked to see the right side of her seat had a two inch burnt mark it. When I got home I decided to do an internet search on that matter, and find out that's a common occurrence on this vehicle. Lucky for us, my girlfriend was wearing jean, a coat, and had her cell phone in her back pocket that morning. If that was not the case some serious injurious could have occurred. She had to get rid of the her coat, jean, and cell phone case, but that's far better than going to the hospital. I no longer use the heated seats.

24 Seats problem of the 2004 BMW 530

Failure Date: 11/12/2014

While driving on highway I noticed a smell of burning matter rapidly increasing in the car, immediately followed by a sharp burning sensation in my right thigh. While half-standing I was able to maneuver my car to the highway shoulder. (which was very difficult to do safely, given the traffic was dense and moving with highway speeds. ) after I pulled over, turned off the car, came out of the vehicle and looked at the seat, I noticed a burn mark on the leather, exactly where my thigh was when it got burned. It seemed that the seat warmer overheated and burned a hole in the leather. I ventilated the car from the burning odor, which gave enough time for the seat to cool down. After getting to a safer location I tested my theory by turning on the seat warmer – the issues was reproducible. I went to stevens creek BMW dealership for diagnostics and repairs. They charged me $210. 88 diagnostic fee and quoted with around $1,500 for the repairs, implying that they will not fix this issue as “a good will” since my car is too old and has too many miles on it and that it has none of the warranties left. I still think they should have fixed it as "a good will" since the dealership diagnosed a short circuit in the seat warmer. The seat warmer should have failed in a fail-safe way by not warming or at least blowing a fuse (and age & miles have little to do with poor engineering).

25 Seats problem of the 1995 BMW 530

Failure Date: 09/24/2014

Front passenger seat sensor mat defective. Confirmed by dealer voluntary recall noted by BMW of north America but will not give VIN numbers affected. State vehicle not affected but dealer does admit these sensor were changed under warranty. Requesting exact VIN numbers affected I cannot get answers now requesting from you. . Read more...

26 Seats problem of the 2004 BMW 530

Failure Date: 03/28/2014

My 2004 BMW 530i has both the seatbelt and airbag light on display at all times on my dashboard. These lights on are caused by a faulty front passenger seat occupant detection mat which BMW has an extended warranty on. After dropping my car to the BMW dealership to get this repaired, I was informed my extended warranty expired roughly 2 months prior and I cannot have this work performed under warranty. They charged me $140 for the diagnostics and said I would have to pay $1050 out of pocket to get repaired. I immediately reached out to BMW of north America and informed them of my situation as this occurred while my vehicle was still under warranty. I was hoping they could fix my car in good faith as this is a known issue or even provide me with a discounted repair. Unfortunately two months went by with no response. When I reached out again they said no this is not their headache and I am responsible for all costs and repairs related to this. This is a serious malfunction which I am surprised is not considered a recall. In the safety recall notice it specifically states if both warning lamps are illuminated simultaneously, BMW recommends not to use the front passenger seat until the vehicle has been serviced. Also, the safety recall notice says that the front passenger airbags will not deploy even if a sufficiently severe accident would occur and occupant protection provided by the system will not be possible. Obviously this is a huge safety issue which BMW needs to address. An extended warranty on such a sensitive matter is not sufficient and a recall should be issued.

27 Seats problem of the 2004 BMW 530

Failure Date: 03/18/2014

The contact owns a 2004 BMW 530i. The contact stated that while traveling approximately 30 mph, smoke emitted from the front driver's side seat. There were no injuries. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 217,000.

28 Seats problem of the 2004 BMW 530

Failure Date: 03/01/2014

While driving my car, with my wife as a passenger, I've noticed that the "passenger airbag off" light is still on (even though there is a passenger in the seat). I went to the stevens creek BMW dealership to diagnose the issue and they said that the reason the passenger airbag light is on is because the sensor is not sensing a passenger due to cable corrosion. That seems odd, given I keep my car in the garage and it never had any water damage. Also, I believe that it is a poor engineering on BMW's side, since in case of corroded cable or faulty sensor the default behavior should be to always keep the airbag "on". It is better be safe than sorry and (in case of accident) deploying an airbag when there is no passenger is better than not deploying an airbag when there is a passenger. . . This is a case of "potentially saving someone's life" vs "potentially saving a few dollars". . .

29 Seats problem of the 2006 BMW 530

Failure Date: 12/06/2013

The contact owns a 2006 BMW 530i. The contact stated while driving various speeds the brake pedal extended all the way down to the floor and there was a delay when the brake pedal was engaged. The contact also stated that when he turned the heat on he smelled a burning odor in the seats. The air bag light sensor illuminated whenever the vehicle was turned on. The vehicle had been taken to the dealer and stated that there was no recall for his vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 89,000.

30 Seats problem of the 2004 BMW 530

Failure Date: 09/18/2013

The front passenger seat occupancy detector has a fault which incapacitates the passenger front air bag. This creates an extremely unsafe passenger situation in the event of a crash. The BMW sbsr system shows fault 0095b8. This specific issue is a known BMW problem and has issued a recall, but BMW has indicated my VIN is not covered for this issue for some unknown reason.

31 Seats problem of the 2006 BMW 530

Failure Date: 06/10/2013

The airbag and seatbelt warning lights are illuminated for the passenger side front seat and non functional , was told there is no open issue/recall , dealer refuses to fix and I am not spending 1200. 00 to fix a issue that is a major safety issue. I need you to contact me to get this resolved. Rasheedj@sbcglobal. Net or 773-415-3124. Thank you.

32 Seats problem of the 2006 BMW 530

Failure Date: 01/17/2013

BMW is recalling 200,000 my 2006 3 series sport seat, my 2004-2006 5 series standard and sport seat, and my 2004-2006 x3 passenger vehicles. Depending on the manner and frequency of the front passenger's entry and exit, small cracks have developed in the mat. If this occurs, the front passenger air bags, with the exception of the head protection system, will be deactivated and the air bag warning lamp as well as the passenger air bag "on-off" lamp will be illuminated. Consequences: in this situation the front passenger air bags will not deploy even if a sufficiently severe accident would occur and occupant protection provided by the system would not be possible. Remedy: dealers will rework the front passenger seat sensor mat so that external force application to the seat does not cause a crack to the mat. The recall began on November 6, 2008. BMW will also extend the warranty on these vehicles to 10 years from first registration without any mileage limit. Owners may contact BMW at 1-800-525-7417. I have contacted BMW and they say my VIN is not part of this recall, however I am experiencing the same issue as the recalled vehicles. I am worried about passenger safety! please help!.

33 Seats problem of the 2004 BMW 530

Failure Date: 07/04/2012

The front passenger air bags is deactivated and the air bag warning lamp as well as the passenger air bag "on-off" lamp is illuminated. This issue is the same as the 2004 BMW 5 series frontal airbag recall ( #08v384000), but for some reason when I contacted BMW at 1-800-525-7417 and provided them my VIN number they said it wasn't covered under the recall. Please review and reconsider as this is a serious defect that needs to be addressed.

34 Seats problem of the 2006 BMW 530

Failure Date: 12/14/2011

Ref NHTSA campaign number: 08v384000 while my vehicle is the same model year, model and specification listed in the recall, my vehicle's VIN is not "included" in the list of recalled vehicles. I have and am currently experiencing this exact seat sensor mat problem. BMW is unwilling to cover any warranty work as the specific VIN is apparently not affected despite the fact that clearly it is. I am concerned about the safety of the occupants of my vehicle based on the unreliability of this component and feel the recall should be expanded to include all vehicles that experience the same problem.

35 Seats problem of the 2003 BMW 530

Failure Date: 11/22/2011

Driver's side heated seat burned hole on left side of seat when activated and singed wife's jacket while driving. Small hole burned into seat. BMW refuses to accept any responsibility to repair damage and correct defect despite numerous incidents over a number of years which they are well aware of. This is potentially a dangerous situation for cabin fire and occupant burns.
