Car Stall problems of the 2009 BMW 535

Three problems related to car stall have been reported for the 2009 BMW 535. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 07/08/2016

The contact owns a 2009 BMW 535i. While driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled on several occasions without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but the failure was unable to be duplicated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.

2 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2012

2009 BMW 535i. Consumer writes in regards to engine malfunction that caused vehicle fire. The consumer stated the vehicle was in the process of being towed, when it caught on fire. The consumer stated there was no unusual service history. The high pressure fuel pump was replaced twice, once as a recall. The vehicle was serviced for stalling problems, which was the same issue that occurred on the day of the fire.

3 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 09/11/2009

2009 BMW 535i: while accelerating, a sudden near-stall/loss of power occurred while attempting to enter into an intersection, nearly causing an accident. A warning was alerted through the idrive system ("engine malfunction - reduced power"). The car was drivable, but extremely sluggish and slow to accelerate. BMW service center performed diagnostics to find that a high-pressure fuel pump (hpfp) had failed. They replaced it, which has since solved the problem. Updated 09/29/09.
