The contact owns a 2014 BMW 535i. The contact stated that while driving in stop-and-go traffic, she depressed the brake pedal, however crashed into the rear of the vehicle in front of her. The contact stated that all three air bags deployed; however, the front driver-side air bag failed to deploy properly. Heard a clicking noise behind the steering wheel for a few days then I’ll the sudden the horn stopped working and all the controls on the steering wheel stopped working. I’m a mechanic so I took apart the clock spring stealing wheel compartment to find all of the wire broken and very very brittle. Cause for concern due to airbag malfunction and is no longer connected properly!!!I’ve been hearing a clicking noise behind the steering wheel for a few days. Then, suddenly, the horn stopped working, and all the controls on the steering wheel stopped working as well. Since I’m a mechanic, I disassembled the clock spring and the steering wheel compartment to find that all the wires were broken and extremely brittle. This is concerning because it could cause an airbag malfunction, and the wires are no longer connected properly.

The passenger seat occupancy sensor stopped working. On the nhsta website I found where BMW offered a 15 year warranty for this part. What was the negotiation with nhsta that BMW offered this warranty? it is warranty si b01 01 18. My car on the list is the e60 and e61 with option 456 (comfort seat). BMW refuses to honor this warranty and want to charge me $2,700 to repair this. Note that the front passenger seat is rarely occupied. Why should this part fail prematurely?.

Based on research it appears BMW has a long history of issues and even a recall on select years around the passenger seat sensor detector becoming faulty and impacting the ability of the air bags to deploy in a collision. This seems to a critical issue since it could result in serious injury to the passenger in the event of a collision.

The contact also stated that the rear passenger's side and the rear driver's side windows were no longer operating as needed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 115,600.

December 29th 2020, my wife was turning left while pulling into a parking space in a shopping mall when the car suddenly surged forward even though she had her foot on the brake. She plowed into the car parked in the space on the right and pushed that car into the car to its right. The air bags on the steering wheel, left and right side and driver's knee bag all deployed. State farm has just declared the car a total loss.

My driver airbag has a malfunction but no recall. The dealership said it was a deformed bag that means maybe someone hit the cover / horn where the airbag is. I'm over 60 years old and couldn't hit a fly that hard.

My car has 76,000 miles on it and the error popped up on the main screen of " "passenger restraint system malfunction. " it advised me to take the car to a service center which I did. BMW of wichita diagnosed the issue as the passenger seat mat needed to be replaced. They quoted me $2,500 to fix the issue and I asked them if this was because of damage or abuse by the owner and they said no it just a part that failed. I called BMW of north America and asked if they would offer assistance in the repair and they said there were not any recalls or service bulletins on the vehicle and therefore they would not have assistance available. After researching this issue online I set there are others with this issue and so I figured I would report it to you. The first time this happened was off a cold start and before anyone sat in the seat and has continued since.

Takata recall. I have received a notice on 7/31/2017 of a class action lawsuit regarding my vehicle and takata air bags. ; however BMW has not issued a recall to fix the air bag problem. Is BMW obligated to fix the air bag problem regardless if I join the suit or not?.

I had to replace the airbag clock spring in my car because of a clicking sound when the steering wheel was turning any direction, sound heard when vehicle was in drive or park. In may, 2014 I was driving at approximately 50 miles per hour on the old valdosta highway when a school bus ran a stop sign and t-boned me on the drivers side and none of the airbags deployed.

It says restraint system malfunction. . I'm scared to put my children in the car. . This is ridiculous and there are plenty more problems. . !!!! there needs to be recall before someone is killed.

Seems to be a common problem where light keeps coming in. . . Not sure if airbag or seat belt restraints will help in an accident.
