The taillight, blinker and reverse light all went out and when I pulled the components out to check to see if the bulbs are burnt all of the bulbs are perfectly fine, but the aluminum pieces were sparking, and the whole component will not work.

Headlight started to collect condensation, not due to any damage to the headlight itself. I understand that this will eventually lead to damage of the electronic components of the headlight because the condensation collects in the bottom of the headlight. Per the advice of my mechanic, I am replacing the headlight before the water can do damage. He says it's a well-known problem.

The drivers headlight has developed significant condensation on its interior caused by a failed seal which in turn damaged or short-circuited the modules disabling my daytime running light, low beam, high beam, and turn signal.

Headlight assembly has issues with the seal and condensation can/does enter the headlight assembly rendering the functionality of the headlight as suspect. Without proper lighting and condensation in front of the headlight which greatly impacts/effects the clarity and visibility of objects in the front of the car creating a safety issue. The cost to replace/repair these assemblies is excessive and is a widespread problem across multiple BMW models/years.

Drivers side headlight has severe condensation and signal light headlights have malfunction.
Driver side headlight has an extreme condensation issue. Especially after it rains or using a car wash. The condensation leaks into the control light module , which makes the turn signal, parking lamp and the adaptive light to all fail.
Driver-side headlight started getting condensation last winter. Brought the car to the dealer to see if they can replace the gasket but was told that it needs to be replaced and it could cost as much as $7,000 if the module needs to be replaced as well. That is ridiculous that it needs to be replaced at such ab absurd cost. Lights can stop working if it burns out and dangerous if it occurs at night and lose your headlights. Since it is summer now, condensation has not occurred until it starts raining.

Station wagon lift gate has severe wiring failures between the lift gate and body. This problem is well known throught the blog community. Broken wires cause failures, and electrical danger, to the rear lighting system that includes brake, running, back up, and turn signals. Also effected is the rear wiper, defroster, and operation access to open and close the lift gate. Tailgate failure would prohibit emergency opening and access to spare tire and fuses. I have already spent $3,000 on one harness replacement (dealer) and am looking at another $3,000 to repair (dealer) more wiring that will restore the brake/running lights on one side (failed state inpection). The internal lighting diagnostics did not indicate any lighting problems or warning. Broken wires could also cause failures to some or all of the entire electrical system. Very dangerous.
The headlights on the BMW 535 collect excessive amounts of condensation. If the condensation builds up, then the light does not function properly. The main safety concern is the malfunction of the turn signal. It will function in the rear of the vehicle but does not light up on the front in the affected headlight housing. Review of this problem on-line shows that this has occurred in many BMW vehicles and BMW also has issued a service bulletin for this problem (si b63 05 16). As widespread as this problem is, I would think there would be a required recall for this service.

The front lights - water gets in impact visibility. The only repair is to replace the entire unit which is $2k per light. There is not other options. The adaptive warning sign does not go away due to this water.
The headlight housing on my model year is leaking water into it and causing electrical issues , iv noticed majority of other models I see on the road have the same issue with one of the headlight housings having water in them, this has caused numerous codes to appear on the dash. “ vertical headlight malfunction “ …”turn signal malfunction “ …”daytime running light malfunction “ ect… this is a safety issue because it stops my signal from working and my headlight works when it wants to. Normally I would think maybe I rock chipped the housing but since I see it on majority of 535’s I see I figure it must have been an issue from factory.
The contact owns a 2013 BMW 535i. The contact stated the driver side headlamps had condensation inside. The vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic who replaced the entire headlamp. The failure had since reoccurred to the older headlamp as well as the new replaced one. The failure had caused the blinkers to malfunction as well. The warning light had illuminated. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had not been made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was unknown.
While driving car stalled, dropped speed and engine warning light came on. Fuel pump was needed. Had to have car towed obtained a rental for 11 days. Fuel pump out of stock. Immediately after fuel pump was replaced less than two weeks the thermostat had to be replaced. Another tow and another rental. I need to be compensated for stress aggravation and loss of use. Repairs and car rental and tow cost over $3500.
Myself along with thousands of other owners are having moisture build up issues inside the headlight that eventually create puddles of water that short out the headlights which is $5000 for each headlight replacement.
1 of my headlights is currently displaying an adaptative headlamp malfunction warning error. I took my vehicle to the dealer and the resolution offered seemed more trial and error. The dealer offered to dry out my headlight assembly which was holding condensation but could not guarantee this will resolve the issue. If the dry out method did not work the only other option was to replace the entire head light assembly at a cost of several thousand dollars each. In the mean time additional lighting modules could be at risk of failure due to the potential moisture buildup. I took my vehicle for a 2nd opinion and the mechanic stated the electrical in the both head light assemblies are at risk for failure or worst due to exposure to moisture.
Known safety concern due to broken wiring in e61 wagon hatch wiring. See this thread: https://5series. Net/forums/e61-touring-discussion-4/tailgate-wiring-harness-replacement-72751/.
Tl-the contact owns a 2011 BMW 535i. The contact stated that there was an extreme amount of condensation in the driver's side headlamp. Grayson BMW located at 10671 parkside dr, knoxville, TN 37922, (865) 693-4555, was contacted and notified of the issue. The contact was informed that the headlamps needed to be replaced at a cost of $8,000. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and notified of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 96,000. Ah.
Wiring for daytime running light melted all wiring insulation off. I got a shock while replacing the bulb before I realized there was no insulation left. To replace the light fixure it is in excess of $1,500 each and both have all insulation melted off their wires. The bulbs do not stay on and we're having difficulty getting a valid nh inspection sticker.
The BMW 535i 2014 , with the driver assistant package , have a huge reflection of the driver head up display glass feature , along with the reflection of the profile of the dashboard middle speaker , straight in the front field of view of the driver . The BMW gallery of norwood ,MA ,dealer and BMW USA have been informed that the car is unsafe to be driven by people with claustrophobia , or ,other vision problems and they answer was to use polarized glass . The reflected images right in the driver field of view is very distracting / disturbing during driving time , and is very , very disturbing during day time driving . We almost get into a car accident due to the disturbing / blurry driver filed of view.
The contact owns a 2008 BMW 535i. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph, the rear driver¿s side brakes failed accompanied by the illumination of the warning indicators. The failure was recurring. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 13v407000 (exterior lighting) but did not confirm if the vehicle was included in the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 98,000.
Warning of rear light and rear right blinker malfunction.
