One problem related to tire tread/belt has been reported for the 1999 BMW 540. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
On 3 separate occasions tires experienced tread separation. This occurred on both rear tires. The cause of the tread separation was unknown, but the dealership indicated that this was a common problem with these model tires.
