Automatic Transmission Column Shift problems of the 2019 BMW 540

The contact owns a 2019 BMW 540i m type, the contact stated while driving at 60 mph, when approaching a street the contact had slightly touch was on the gear shifter that has a button to change the gear shifter and the vehicle suddenly gear shifter from drive to neutral the contact put the gear shifter back into drive. The contact was able to continue to drive with no further issue. However the contact concern is that there should be no reason for the gear shifter to change gear with little to no pressure on the gear shifter the way that it did. The contact took the vehicle to local dealer to inspected the vehicle but could not duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 43,500.
