Service Brakes Problems of BMW 540

While driving on highways when there is no car in front of me, my car suddenly warns me of collision and applies brakes automatically! this almost caused an accident with the cars behind me. They were about to collide with me from behind because my car was applying brakes automatically without my control. Please help me urgently.

We notice the lose of braking power right after we started the car on 4/30 morning. The car was totally fine before that. Took it to the BMW dealer they said the problem is "vacuum/oil pump failing internally. Fault for brake booster pressure switch, no brake boost" I find that there is a recall for the exact problem but it doesn't include my vehicle the "part 573 safety recall report 21v-598" stated that when it does happen it will cause damage to the oil/vacuum pump. I think recall 21v-598 should include my vehicle.

I reserved this vehicle with a deposit on oct. 26. At the time I was told the vehicle was under recall/stop sale for a brake issue and I would not be able to take delivery until the recall work was performed. On 11/5, I was able to purchase the vehicle after the repair work was done. After leaving the dealership, about a half mile down the road I received a message on the vehicle display which said "brake fluid level low. Have the problem checked by the nearest service center. " the message also advised that I could continue driving the vehicle. I returned to the dealership and the car was inspected for roughly 30 mins. The vehicle was released to me and the message was gone. I was advised that the vehicle probably needed brake fluid from the recall repair. On 11/7, while driving I received the same brake fluid level low message from the vehicle. I contacted the dealership and drove to the dealership to have the vehicle looked at again. About a mile from the dealership, as I applied the brakes, the vehicle suddenly generated a number of messages including "brake system malfunction, stop carefully. Do not continue driving". At this point the brake pedal fell to the floor. I was able to stop the vehicle by applying a large amount of force to the brake pedal and was able to get to a nearby parking lot. I was very lucky and I would have been unable to prevent a crash under many circumstances. The braking power was almost completely gone from the vehicle. I returned the vehicle to the dealership and they reversed the transaction. From what I read online, the symptoms I experienced were exactly the same as those who experienced the brake failure which led to the recall. This car was either not fixed correctly or (even worse) the BMW remedy for the recall suffers the same potential problem as the original recall. In the second case, I believe this is a very dangerous situation.

The contact owns a 2024 BMW 540i. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 24v10400(electronic stability control(esc), service brakes, hydraulic); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced the failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

About June 2024 when I was driving downslope at about 30 mph, when I hit break the car accelerated. Fortunately, nobody and no car were around and I gained control of the car by pumping the break. I did not think much about this issue to report it. On August 23, 2024, I was driving home. I was very close to my home at very low speed (about 1-2 mph). I hit the break and the car accelerated for the second time crashing into my next door neighbor's house damaging his bushes, steps, spriklers and the gate. My car sustained considerable amount of damages. It was in the BMW authorized body shop about a month. I received the car on 9/25/2024.

Car did not fully stop when brakes engaged. Caused collision with a wall. Mechanics are currently evaluating the braking system but it appears to be consistent with the brake recall issued for other 2023-4 BMW vehicles—loss of power brake assist or antilock brake to not function properly. (see national highway traffic safety administration campaign number 24v-104 reported on February 12, 2024).

Unintended car acceleration, with complete brake failure. No software warning icons in dash, no collision avoidance or abs triggered even though car so equipped. Crashed into rear end of stationery vehicle,. Eden prairie, mn police were called. Incident report # attached. (1st image) western national insurance CO. Notified. Claim # attached (2nd image) car will be inspected @ BMW dealership in bloomington, mn 7/25/23.

The vehicle was at a complete stop, when the gas pedal was tapped to move forward slightly the vehicle suddenly accelerated out of control. There was an attempt to apply the brakes, but the vehicle continued to accelerate and "drive train malfunction" began to flash on the dashboard of the vehicle. The vehicle proceeded to accelerate as it jumped a curb, crashed into a ditch, before finally becoming lodged in a fence and coming to a complete stop when half of the vehicle was lifted off of the ground. The driver of the vehicle suffered a fractured back as a result of the incident. We have reported this incident to BMW and are awaiting a response from the manufacturer. The vehicle has been inspected by the driver's insurance and, while we do not have a report from them yet, the vehicle was totaled.
