Three problems related to service brakes have been reported for the 2004 BMW 545. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The contact owns a 2004 BMW 545i. The contact stated that while driving 15 mph, the brakes were difficult to depress and failed to respond. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that there was a manufacturer's recall on the brake booster that had been previously performed on the vehicle. The approximate failure mileage was 113,000.
When beginning to drive, the vehicle would slam to the point where I thought I was rear ended. I took the car to my mechanic and he said it was the transmission and the fix was costly. Continues to do this at times and will also do a smaller scale slam when slowing to a stop light or stop sign.
The contact owns a 2004 BMW 540 five I. The contact stated that oil was leaking into the brakes. The vehicle was repaired under NHTSA campaign id number: 10v446000 (service brakes, hydraulic:power assist:vacuum). After repairs, oil continued to leak into the brakes. The manufacturer was contacted but the vehicle was not further repaired. The failure mileage was 90,000 and the current mileage 98,000.
