Engine Shut Off Without Warning Problems of BMW 550

1 Engine Shut Off Without Warning problem of the 2011 BMW 550

Failure Date: 12/17/2019

Engine information center says to add oil, in between oil changes, numerous times. Car shut down on road and was taken to a dealer. Dealer says the engine has seized. Since the vehicle is just over the warranty by miles, pax 500 miles, I was told that I would be responsible for the repairs. The car only has just over 50k miles. It was purchased with 40k miles on it but was purchased from a dealer not BMW. Is there anything that can be done?.

2 Engine Shut Off Without Warning problem of the 2012 BMW 550

Failure Date: 10/12/2019

Son was driving car and car just shut off in the middle of the road without any warning. Car was towed to BMW dealership and they want to charge $3000 to tear down engine to see why engine locked up. Car was bought 31 may 2019 and shut down after driving a little over 3,000 miles 12 October 2019. Just a complete runaround with BMW offices.

3 Engine Shut Off Without Warning problem of the 2008 BMW 550

Failure Date: 01/03/2011

Vehicle shuts off unexpectedly and fails to restart, additionally the vehicle will randomly fail to start. The engine will shut off while driving at highway speeds, when driving slowly, or shortly after shifting the car into drive from park. No warnings or errors are generally encountered or logged however in rare instances drivetrain warnings are displayed. The engine displays no strange behavior prior to this occurring and shuts off as if it were instructed to do so. The vehicle regularly fails to start. The engine does not turn over at all or make any indication that it is attempting to start. The vehicle responds as though the ignition was not activated and was never instructed to start. After a random time interval from 5 minutes to 2 hours the car will start as if no problems were ever encountered. No errors are logged in the ecu. The manufacturer has yet to find any issues which they claim are repairable after approximately 40 days of shop time and well over 100 occurrences.
