Fuel pump failure causing engine to spontaneously shut down on road or freeway at any speed. This puts the safety of occupants in my car and the cars around me in danger as I need to put my hazards and safely move the car to the side of the road. No warning prior to failure. Warning and check engine light came on after problem occurred.

I was driving when the vehicle engine randomly shut down with out warning I was on the freeway at the time and could have been hit by a car. I took thr car to an auto repair shop, had the problem inspected snddiagnosed and was told the engine was faulty. I had the engine replaced and the same issue occurred. There were no warning lamps, messages, or alerts prior to the problem occurring. The drivetrain malfunction light came on as soon as the engine cut off.

Fuel pump supply / drive train malfunction. Vehicle was driven in freeway and has sudden message pop up on display screen and abruptly shut down. Unable to exit the freeway lanes. Stuck on the inbound lanes of freeway. Unable to re start vehicle to exit freeway. Took vehicle to local repair shop for inspection/repair to be made to fuel pump supply , only to have the same problem return in matter of days of repairs made.
When driving in freeway , vehicles display " drivetrain malfunction " - fuel supply full drive performance not available and begins to shut off abruptly in lanes. Can not restart vehicles. Vehicles can not be towed off the freeway lanes due to not begin able to put vehicle in neutral mode. Vehicle was taken to local repair shop and parts were repair / replaced relating to fuel supply system. Same problems has reoccurring after 2 weeks of repairs.
2012 f10 had issues while running as car installed and stopped completely multiple times in traffic. Fuel supply sign came on. Diagnosed as low pressure fuel pump degraded and need replacement. Same recall took place for 2007-2011 5 series model as well via recall campaign no. 16v-746: in-tank fuel pump. 2012 have same issue and very dangerous to drive on road when vehicle stalls and stops while driving in traffic.
When you first turn the car on it sounds very loud for about 5 minutes (louder than normal). When driving down the road the car will start shaking and the car computer pops up saying drivetrain malfunction and you have to pull over to restart. Hesitate beofre taking off at a red light or when turning in an intersection. Computer error massage comes and goes.
When driving down the road the car will start shaking and the car computer pops up saying drivetrain malfunction and you have to pull over to restart the car. But it does it again 5-10 minutes later.
When I press on the gas to accelerate the "drivetrain malfunction" error comes on. My car only have 51,000 miles. I have to turn the car off and wait a minute to resume driving.
Car will stall jerk and stall losses power while accelerating.
"takata recall" I have a 2013 BMW 550i xdrive m sport. It keeps on misfiring on cylinder number two and I have changed all 8 spark plugs and the injector for that cylinder. I also used octane booster and sea foam to clean the carbon out the fuel system. I don't know what else it could be if it's still misfiring on that cylinder. It starts up good and sometimes it starts up kind of hesitant. When I come to a complete stop after really going fast it starts to shake as I am stopped and when I go to take off it lurches sometimes. I have only had mechanics work on my car and can't find any other explanation as to why it's not functioning right.

"takata recall" our car started flashing "increased battery discharge" and "all electrical devices will shut off" we took it to the BMW house. They diagnosed it, as needing a new battery. We replaced the battery and 1 week later the same message came on again "increased battery discharge' "all electrical devices will shut off" . We had to take it back to the BMW house and they diagnosed it this time as needing the external door handle replaced, they said the door handle had gone out and that some part in that handle puts the car to sleep but it was not allowing the car to go to sleep and this pulled the battery down. We replaced that. That lasted 2 weeks and again this same message came "increased battery discharge" "electrical devices are shutting down. I was on the way to the BMW house once again it started to smell like wires burning and under the console where the gear is started to smoke bad!! to the point that I parked the car then I called the fire department. Our car had to be hauled to the BMW house. It is unknown why all this happened.
While drive below 30 mph, the front driveshaft broke and ruptured a hole in the engine's upper oil pan. The flexible joint or universal joint seized and broke the front part of the front driveshaft. Then the vehicle had metal in the engine oil and that has damaged the engine and the turbochargers. The vehicle is going to need a new engine, new turbochargers, and a new front driveshaft. The repair estimates are: new engine - $3800. 00 turbo chargers - $1100. 00 front driveshaft - $1500. 00 auxiliaries parts - $1200. 00 labor/repair cost - $7000. 00 total cost - $14,600. 00.
Purchased car two years ago and drivetrain malfunction continues to light continually comes on, vehicle begins to shake uncontrollably. I've had driven Lexus vehicles for the prior 30 years and never spent so much time at the dealer trying to resolve the same problem or any mechanical / electrical problems. Switching to BMW within these past two years have literally interrupted my life, cost me time and money as this vehicle was in the repair shop (dealer) for more than 70 days within two years (dealer spent just as much time with the car as I). After all the repairs the faithful drivetrain malfunction enters my life yet again. Can you do something about this major component in this car. After purchasing for cash I thought I would not need to purchase another car for at least 5-6 or more years but once again I find myself having to now buy a reliable car. If I knew BMW vehicles were this much trouble, I would have saved an enormous amount of cash by financing instead expending that amount upfront only to find myself "living" at the dealership. Saddest part is your organization has a safety recall for this problem but only the 2011-12 BMW 550i gran turismos and I have the 2010. I guess "after" I pay for the repair then you will initiate a recall to include this year as well (same car as others, experiencing the exact same problem, but one year making the difference). Can you please help.
There is fuel leaking from the main fuel line to the fuel rail. Extremely dangerous upon research I have found that this is a common problem with my model which explains why BMW's catch fire. Does someone have to die before they fix this problem?.

The high pressure fuel injector either fails or is incapacitated by the ecu for unknown reasons. In either case the drive train is put into a diminished mode which renders the vehicle under powered and also eventually emit white smoke. Once in this deminished mode especially on the highway the vehicle is a hazard to drive as it can barely keep up with the speed limit and in some situation will not allow for emergency manuvers due to lack of power. In my case there were two previous incidents that were reset by the dealership which indicated impending failure until the 3rd incident in which the pump leaked fuel into the cylinder causing the white smoke. This smoke in access can also blind the car behind you. After this incident I also contacted BMW customer services and enquired about any recalls and that all fuel injectors should be replaced. They replied in the negative and suggest I talk to the nearest dealership.

The contact owns a 2011 BMW 550i. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v746000 (fuel system, gasoline); however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not offer any assistance. The VIN was unknown. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

Car performance greatly decreased, then failed turbo, fuel smell, and drive train malfunction warning intermittentently on and off, either in park or in motion. Took vehicle to dealership. BMW northwest is currently denying any recalls are in place and.
BMW n63 customer care package: a recall b001314 that BMW refuses to call a recall. Im having problum with the car burning oil every 200 miles had fuel injectors replace twice. Car stills runs bad. My car only has 84k on it and I have had so many problums out of it oil chance has always been on time.
This vehicle has had multiple recalls. The latest one was campaign no. 18v-248. BMW has yet to do anything for my vehicle, even after it burnt itself to the ground and a portion of my home. They did not add any explanation or attempt to investigate this situation. It is still undefined how this vehicle lit itself on fire as it was parked and turned off sitting in my garage, after just being driven 5-10 minutes before the fire started.
The 2011 BMW 550i had just recently been parked and turned off. After no more than 10 minutes after it was parked, it burst into flames coming from the engine compartment on the passenger side. Then very quickly spread throughout the entire car. The car was parked in an attached garage thus not only completely burning the car to the ground but also partially burning the home down as well. Resulting in over $250,000 in damage. This vehicle had one of the n63 engines in it which BMW had three volunteer recalls to "correct" the fuel injector issue. 5 months prior to the fire, a certified BMW dealership executed the third attempt at this recall. This BMW was also under a full coverage maintenance warranty, thus it had only been to certified BMW service centers. During the last recall under campaign 0013480200 sib 11 16 14 in conjunction with sib 11 06 14 and 61 30 14, the oil life mileage was reduced from 15,000 miles to 10,000 miles with the BMW service center explaining that was part of the campaign BMW na requested to service the vehicles more frequently. When I asked the BMW representative about this specifically at the fire investigation he said it was due to "epa requirements". Had nothing to do with the known engine issues that BMW has been attempting to address since 2013.
The complaint is not a safety issue. It's a quality issue. BMW's n63 engine is evidently not well engineered. They have a "customer care package"¿ in place for those customers that complain to the service dept about their engines not running right. BMW is very careful to make sure customers do not view the repair as a recall. That said the amount of work required is extensive (takes more than 1 week to complete). From what I¿ve read online the fix they have in place does not always work. I asked to be let out of my lease and put into a different vehicle with no penalty and was refused any accommodations. I¿m writing because you should be aware of this engine issue (google n63 issues) encourage BMW to recall the cars and allow their customers to swap out vehicles if they choose to do so.
The car threw a drive train malfunction code which happens weekly on these engines and the car jumped a lane as it misfired and went into limp driving mode. If there was cars next to me there would have been a crash. Since then BMW has issued a customer campaign on the n63 engine effecting thoughts of cars. They are changing tons of parts from injectors to fuel rails. It should be a full blown recall and the NHTSA should get involved on this. My car has been in the shop since 12/23 and still has not been repaired correctly. I have a feeling you are going to be getting thousands of these complaints against BMW. They need to be held accountable for these failures.
I was driving my car and all of a sudden the entire car started shaking. I get multiple engine malfunction lights and then get a "reduced power" alert on my dashboard. The car goes into "limp-mode", which means it's incapable of going past 40-45 mph and going anything above 25 results in violent shaking of the car. Also at red lights, the entire car vibrates. The fault was determined to be the fuel injectors in the engine, however I already knew that by simply looking up the symptoms. Thousands of BMW 5-series made between 2011-2012 have this issue, yet BMW is not recalling them, but rather fixing them on a one-by-one basis. If someone is out of warranty, like me, they are then charging nearly $6,000 for a fault that affects over 50% of 2011 BMW 550i's made! BMW forums everwhere talk about this problem and as cars made in 2011 start running out of their warranty in late 2014, early 2015, more and more of them will start showing symptoms and consumers will be forced to shell out thousands of dollars for a fix BMW should have addressed in a mandatory recall.
I was driving on a residential street and shifted into 3rd gear. The car began to buck violently. I pushed in the clutch to stop the bucking. I was approaching an intersection. I attempted to accelerate and the gas pedal was non-responsive. The vehicle then indicated that it had a drivetrain malfunction. I was able to pull over, turn the car off and back on and drive 0. 5 miles to my destination. While parked, the parking brake also malfunctioned and I was unable to turn it off. The car was towed to the dealership. There is a significant design deficiency with this vehicle. The problem with my car had to do with a broken plastic part on the water channel that leads around the trunk. The plastic cover is supposed to snap into a grommet that is in a hole, thus sealing the hole from water. In my situation, the grommet was missing. Given the design of the plastic part, there is no way to know that there is an issue without removing the plastic part. The hole that the plastic piece snaps into leads directly into the trunk. In the bottom of the trunk are sensitivite electronic modules that control the fuel management system and the parking brake. There is no drain in the trunk that would allow water to leave the vehicle. My vehicle was parked in a parking lot during a rain storm. As a result of the design, I got water in the trunk, which ruined these two modules, resulting in the vehicle becoming disabled while driving. I believe that this is a significant safety issue for the following reasons: I) as a consumer, I had no idea that the electronics that enable the vehicle to manage fuel were located in the trunk; ii) the design of the water channel around the trunk seems inadequate given that any failure of the plastic shield / grommet combination would lead to water in the trunk and expose these critical components.
1- seat belt malfunction for passenger side not fixed after many complaints to BMW of north America and the dealership. I can¿t have a passenger or my wife in my car due to the seat belt safety issues. 2- fuel injectors failed and will be replaced for the third time 3- the car is vibrating at 40mph. BMW found irregular tire wear on the front tires¦ but I have a full warranty on all tiers with BMW that I purchased, the warranty is based on all the road hazards and the cause of the vibration is road hazards. BMW is not replacing the tires. 4- engine makes big noise at the start after parked for 8hrs or more. 5- the backup camera is stop working sometimes and the navigation is loading slowly. I brought these issues to critz BMW dealership and also contacted Bmwusa customer care but they simply could not fix the issue after many visits to the dealership. I have approximately 45 days of warranty left on this vehicle so Bmwua is giving me a run around and each time supporting and backing the dealership until my warranty expires. Bmwusa and the crizte BMW dealership basically did not honor their original manufacture warranty contract to fix the issues that are still exists on this BMW. I took this vehicle to critze BMW dealership for more than five times and each time they kept it for 4 days and now for 21 days and they might keep it for another 14 days to fix the ongoing issue but the results are failing and the issue is unresolved the vehicle went for repairs this year for more than 40 days. BMW is holding my vehicle until the manufacture warrant expires so they can't have an excuse for not fixing. I have filed a complain with better business bureau but bbb referred me to your office since GA lemon law dose not apply to a used vehicle purchased from BMW even though with original manufacture warranty.
I have prepared a pdf document that I would like to submit as well. I can supply it at any time. Here is the short version. 10/17/I have the family come with me for a ride and then the vehicle begins to malfunctions and the check engine light comes back on. The vehicle is struggling to even drive at this point and I am on the freeway trying to make it to an exit. The hesitation becomes worse and worse I start to fear that I may become stranded on a busy roadway. I make it off the exit and home. 10/18/(d/o vehicle mileage: 29,375) I take the vehicle to concord BMW for inspection; [xxx] is the service consultant at BMW of concord. 10/19/(p/u vehicle mileage: 29,379) [xxx] telephones me to inform me that it was a quick fix and the vehicle was ready to be picked up. I come to sign for the vehicle and release the rental. Not even 10 minutes after I am in possession of the vehicle it malfunctions identically again. I call back to tell them I am dropping it off, once again.
