The BMW 650i gran coupe experienced a trunk release failure on 6/4/2023. The emergency release handle is in the very rear of the trunk. The only release levers to fold the seats down are also in the very rear of the trunk. The only way to access the trunk is thru a small opening behind the armrest. With a loaded trunk there is no reasonable way to open the trunk once the electronic release system has failed. This can be very dangerous, for example, medication locked inside the trunk and inaccessible. There are many worse possible scenarios.
