Air Bag Not Deploy Problems of BMW 745

The contact owns a 2003 BMW 745li. While attempting to stop the vehicle with the brake pedal depressed, the vehicle independently accelerated. As a result, the contact crashed into the driver side of another vehicle and then into a building. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact sustained leg, back, and neck injuries that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed from the crash scene to a dealer who was unable to diagnose or repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The airbag and seatbelt tensioner was recalled for same manufacturer for cars from 2004 and up. The 2002 and 2003 model had the same issue but was not part of the recall. I was driving on the freeway and the light for the seatbelt tensioner and the passenger airbag came on. This is a serious safety concern since airbags may not deploy and the seat belt may not tighten in an event of an accident.

In addition, the vehicle slid to the right and flipped over onto the passenger side. The air bags failed to deploy. The driver sustained a neck injury and medical attention was required. The contact owns a 2002 BMW 745i. When the contact started the ignition, the frontal air bag warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The warning indicator remained illuminated until the engine was turned off. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and they stated that the failure was related to the air bag sensor. The contact was concerned that the air bags may not deploy in the event of a crash. The vehicle has not been repaired. The failure mileage was 67,000 and the current mileage is 69,800.
