The contact owns a 2008 BMW 750li. The contact stated that upon refueling the vehicle, he smelled a strong gas odor. The contact recalled that the same issue had occurred with a BMW vehicle that he previously owned, so he drove the vehicle to his residence and restarted it. The contact exited the vehicle and as he was looking around, he noticed fuel leaking onto the rear driver’s side wheel and onto the floor. There were no warning lights illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that his vehicle was not included in a recall. The dealer advised the contact to take the vehicle in for diagnosis; however, the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the fuel pump was fractured and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 112,000.

The contact owns a 2013 BMW 750i. The contact stated while driving 30 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle restarted after approximately 30 minutes. The contact stated he had experienced the failure four times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the upper fuel pump was repaired however, the failure persisted. A dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of failure. The failure mileage was approximately 125,000.
