2 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2008 BMW 750

Failure Date: 10/31/2024

The contact owns a 2008 BMW 750i. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 17v328000  (latches/locks/linkages) and was interfering with other electrical components of the vehicle such as the navigation panel rendering it non-responsive, the alarm system from the door latches constantly sounding and not being able to be turned off, causing the battery to drain. As my wife and son were driving the passenger door just unlatched from latch and would not latch back, after some research ,I found that there was a recall for the door latch issue on BMW 750 models built from 08/04 to 09/07 notice was 12v504 with that info in hand I called reeves BMW in tampa fla only to be told it was not a open campaign based on my VIN even though my vehicle was built 01/07 and has both cas and soft close doors just as recall notice noted, nothing in the may 2013 technical service bulletin states anything about certain VIN's just the production date's, this is a issue that should be addressed by this agency with more vigor because it is more than a inconvenience but a [xxx] safety issue.
