The "airbag malfunction" dash light is on. The BMW dealer has determined the malfunction is due to an internal failure to the drivers seat occupancy detector. An active recall (17v-605 ?) includes 2004-2006 BMW 7 series but excludes my 2007 BMW 7. Dealer declined to make the repairs under the active recall.

Tl the contact owns a 2006 BMW 750li. The contact stated that the passenger seat mat occupancy sensor bypass was faulty and the warning indicator illuminated. Days later, the driver's side mat warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to classic BMW (6800 dallas pkwy, plano, TX 75024, (214) 778-2600) where it was diagnosed that the passenger side mat sensor needed to repaired; however, there was no repair for the driver's side. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was 157,000.

Driver side occupant detection mat is not functioning according to the dealer. The passenger side mat has been previously recalled on this vehicle. The airbag light is continuously on and the I drive car data shows passenger mat is not working. But the dealer says the driver side is out somehow. From what I understand the mat disables the airbag when there is insufficient weight applied.
Airbag and seat belt light are on. Came on while driving with one passenger. Dealer states front passenger seat occupant detection mat needs replacing. Nhtsa id 13v564000 does not apply to my VIN.
A seat occupancy detector fault prevents the entire airbag system from working. This fault signal appears when the car is started and continues until it is off. The airbag fault signal was checked and confirmed to be a failure of the passenger seat detector. This is a common BMW problem. It caused NHTSA recall 13v564000 (11/12/13) and is now the subject of an extensive BMW warranty extension for many models in lieu of a recall, but not for the 2007 7 series. BMW service bulletin si b01 01 18 (may 2018) identifies 12 model types given a lifetime warranty extension for specified years: e53 (x5) for 2001-2006; e60 (5 series) 2004-2008; e61 (5 series wagon) 2006-2007; e63 (6 series) 2004-2008); e64 (6 series convertible) 2004-2008; e65-e66 (7 series) 2002-2006; e83 (x3) 2004-2010; e85 (z4) 2003-2007; e86 (z4 coupe) 2006-2008; e90 (3 series sedan) 2006-2007; and e91 (3 series touring) 2006-2007. For no apparent reason, the 2007 7 series is excluded from this warranty extension. A specialty BMW repair shop that uses BMW trained personnel confirmed that there was no material difference in the seat detection system between models included in the BMW warranty extension and those excluded from it, like the 2007 7 series. The Bmws have a design shortcoming that requires that a repair of a failed passenger seat occupancy detector is extremely expensive, requiring extensive work to rework the entire passenger seat. That expense in the range of $2,000, is a great disincentive to repairing older models with diminished value. That creates additional danger of no air bag protection in these cars. When asked, BMW representatives made no attempt to explain why the 2007 7 series is excluded from the warranty extension, saying only that the choice of models covered is based on internal data and BMW customer service has no discretion to cover or reduce costs for models not included.
The contact owns a 2006 BMW 750li. While the vehicle was stationary, the passenger seat would not retract back to its original position. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 168,000.
The sensor mats in the car have failed at under65k. The models 2005-2007 had a recall on these mats but it doesn't pertain to the 2008 model in which I am experiencing the exact same problem. Additionally, under 65k miles I have had to replace both forward window motors and now the back right motor. The logic 7 sound amp also went bad in 2012.
Drivers seat sensor mat malfunction light came on. When this light is on the airbags will not deploy in the event of an accident. I did research and found that this is a on going issue on this vehicle. Please help save lives by authorizing a recall.
The contact owns a 2015 (na) BMW 750i. While the vehicle was at a stop sign, another vehicle crashed into the rear of the contact's vehicle. As a result, the driver side head rest blew up and impacted the back of the contact¿s head and neck. The contact sustained head and neck injuries that required medical attention. The vehicle was not diagnosed. A police report was filed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the head rest was performing as designed. The approximate failure mileage was 7,000.
