Most BMW v8 engines including my own (n62,n63) have know major flaws with valve stem seals and timing chains. These issues cause catastrophic damage to engines and emissions system. It is a major safety issue as well as environmental issue. Vehicles end up immobile on the highway or emitting excesive smoke and fumes into the atmosphere. BMW has had a class action lawsuit over this I dont believe thats enough. These vehicles need to be repaired.

My 2007 BMW li just started throwing itself into park while driving causing a major abrupt stop jerking the car to a stop. The transmission fault error came on and I turned the car off and waited a minute and turned it back on and was able to continue. It did this one more time before reaching home. Then the following day attempting to drive it as soon as I put it in reverse it jumped back into park. I had it towed to the dealer as I had read that there was a recall for BMW's with the same symptoms. I have since read numerous complaints of other BMW same year and model having the same problem. The dealer just said it wasn't covered under a recall and the transmission needs to be replaced and the cars age isn't worth the value of replacing the transmission so I have the car parked in my garage and cannot drive it. BMW needs to step up and take responsibility. There are plenty of the same make, model, and year having the same issue.

Car screen panel dead. No visuable information on car panel to determine speed, gas level etc. Car picked up from dealership after service and told of water leak in car. Had been told by the service dept that they could not find a leak of water into car. However, apparently, they did not want to repair the panel due to their neligence. The car had been taken to them with this issue several times as a potential recall issue.
On oct 29, 2012, bnw recalled its 7-series luxury cars due to reports of transmission control problems. The national highway traffic safety administration reported in the NHTSA campaign #12v502000 (power train and electric system) has caused at least 14 crashes and possibly 5 injuries, and in the NHTSA campaign #13v564000 (air bags). The recall involved 45,500 cars with model years from 2005 to 2008 that includes 2006 BMW 750li. Our 2006 BMW 750li’s VIN is wbahn83586dt34592. Our purchase was from BMW of tenafly, 301 county road, tenafly, NJ 07670 on 3/19/2009. Odometer reading at the time of the purchase is 45,450 miles. Sale price is $35,777. 84. Our BMW 750li was vocationally used, and mostly garaged, from 2009-2011, in new jersey; and completely garaged, from 2011-2014, in new jersey. The vehicle was vocationally used, from 2014-2019, in chicago. Since 2019, the vehicle has been repaired in shops for electric and transmission failures: 3 years by bridgeport transmission (930 w 31st street, chicago, IL 60608, tel 312 842-1887, richard, the owner), and now already 6 months with field BMW northfield (700 frontage road, northfield, IL 60093, tel: 847-441-5300 x 8396, chris goodrich, the service advisor). Except for the electric and transmission issues, our vehicle is in wonderful condition. The body looks new. The current odometer reading is 92,000 miles. Since 2019, we have spent $1,500 for battery (as it was first suspected of the issue) by field BMW northfield, $6,500 for electric and transmission by bridgeport transmission, $650 for programming by a BMW dealership, and $5,350 for dsc control unit, and multiple tows 4 x $350 = $1,400. Total expenditure is $15,400. Currently, field BMW northfield asks additional $8,700 for transmission, but does not guarantee the vehicle can be repaired.

Water linkage down door panels to the floor, drivers side ecm is located in that area, water damages the components and caused it to produce codes, interfering with car engine, causes surges, and vehicle to all of sudden shut off even while driving on freeway or streets. Water linkage on the passenger side down into the fuse box. All so causing electrical malfunction that opens the door for potential unsafe events.

While driving 10 mph, the vehicle independently accelerated in excess of 50 mph, which caused the passenger side to hit the wall of the neighbor's residence. While driving on turnpike heading south. The BMW light came on transmission fault. Reduce acceleration and have your car checked by the nearest BMW. Now this has been going on for about 4-month's. BMW service has changed the ball joint going into transmission and stated this was the issue. The car would not drive over 40mph with acceleration very high. Pulled over and waited for 5-minutes. Car then cranked and light was still on but disappeared after 1-2 minutes. This event keeps happening. Grant it my car is just over 53k miles and has never been late for any service or recall. Car has been garaged, oil changed regular as stated by BMW. I believe this is a defect in the BMW based on what I have ben reading. I think BMW should step up to plate and fix the transmission issue it has having from these $80k cars.

Near miss a couple times. . . . . . . . . . Whenever sitting still for a period of time then go to take off there is a big bluish gray smoke cloud. At the same time the car will take off then do a jerky stop and go again. I've almost been rear ended many of times. If sitting somewhere for longer then 2-3 minutes the car is surrounded by this smoke. Its a known issue with BMW. To me this is a safety issue along with environmental and health issue.
The engine in this car (n63) has major flaws. At anytime while driving this engine can stall or reduce power. There are issues with the timing chains, fuel injectors, vanos system and other electrical engine parts. This car has been in for service a total of 57 days since April 2014 for engine failure. This car when fails will reduce power or shut down and you have no power to get out of the way of traffic. BMW fails to correct this problem. BMW is currently replacing some of the parts that they think might have some effect but not all dealers are assisting consumers and BMW will not recall this. This is a major safety issue as this n63 engine is used in all BMW vehicles fitted with a v8.

Gear shift from park to neutral.
The contact owns a 2006 BMW 750li. While attempting to park at approximately 5 mph, the vehicle accelerated abnormally. The contact crashed into the wall of a home and both the contact and a passenger sustained minor neck injuries. The vehicle was towed to an auto body shop for repairs. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.
When pushing on the gas, the vehicle would stall, rpm's would shoot up, and would take 3-10 seconds to re-gain any power before the vehicle would begin to accelrate. Also once coming up to a stoplight or stop sign, the vehicle would feel as if someone had slammed into the back of me possibly jerking into gear. Spent countless times at the dealership with them giving me the run around, replacing random parts before replacing the entire transmission and still the vehicle continues to have issues.
The contact owns a 2006 BMW 750li. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would jerk violently and lunge forward. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on numerous occasions, where they were unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 25,000 and the current mileage was 88,000.
