1 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2003 BMW 760

Failure Date: 04/14/2018

The high pressure fuel pumps fail which cause the car to stall and cut off while driving. If you turn the car off and ion it may start back up and run again, but it will continue to stall and cut off. BMW knows this is a known issue and says bot high pressure fuel pumps need to be replaced at $2700 a piece. My vehicle has 90,000 miles on it.

2 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2006 BMW 760

Failure Date: 05/04/2016

Hard to start, idles rough and sometimes dies when sitting at stop light. When taking off, it stalled while driving and lost total power for steering and other controls, very dangerous. We were lucky that we were not on the freeway. I know BMW has had problems with the high pressure fuel pumps. My car has 130000 miles and after spending over $4000 at the local BMW for the same issue, now they want an extra $6000 for the hpfp. My car is sitting at their shops, not safe to drive and they refuse to fix it. Is there a recall or anything they can be done? thank you.

3 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2006 BMW 760

Failure Date: 02/04/2016

As a consumer and also reading about other consumers having issues with the high pressure fuel pumps, the oem part which BMW is charging to fix this problem is over $6,000. The parts are only for the 2006 760i and they seems to be going out on a lot of people. Some consumers were lucky to have it go out during their warranty but some have to deal with this type of expense after wards. If this part seems to go out on a lot of 760i models in BMW there should be a recall out their to fix them. I can understand if there was a few but there are at least 20 just on the forum that I normally go to for answers to my questions. This seems to be an epidemic and BMW needs to take ownership of this, especially since this is only on one model and that the cost of this is overwhelming.

4 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2006 BMW 760

Failure Date: 12/01/2015

Hard to start, cranks for a while till it builds up pressure then starts. Idles rough and sometimes dies when sitting at stop light, and sputtering power at time when taking off, also when it stalls while driving it is a total loss of power for steering and other controls, very dangerous when it happens. I understand this is a fuel pump problem. Car has 2 fuel pumps. Very very costly repair at the dealer. Dealer should replace at their cost.

5 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2006 BMW 760

Failure Date: 11/10/2014

Bad fuel pumps. This is a major safety issue because you can be driving at any driving speed and the car will shut off on you with no warning.

6 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2006 BMW 760

Failure Date: 11/07/2014

Fuel leak and rough idle. Fuel rapidly leaks out of tank when re-fueling car. Dmtl pump and hpfp (high pressure fuel pumps) need to be replaced.

7 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2003 BMW 760

Failure Date: 11/01/2014

Driving at 75mph my car stalled and the steering became stiff. I barley made it out of the fast lane during heavy traffic and other cars flying past me at 75/80 mph. Car started back up and I pulled off 1/4 mile later it stalled again. I was in the slow lane (still going 75mph ) and the car stalls again. I called a tow truck and had it towed to my mechanic. My mechanic calls me and says its your high pressure fuel pump. I just had one of my hpfp fail last year now the othere side failed. This is a know issues with BMW v12 engine. Just google BMW 760li hpfp. There is a youtube video with what failed in the pump. There are also numerous online community's that have pictures of there failed pumps. BMW bumps the prices of these pumps to 2,500 dollars a piece. This is a safty issue just like on the 3 and 5 series there just aren't enough v12s produced for this to be a major recall like on the 5 series. BMW should give these pumps a longer warranty.

8 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2003 BMW 760

Failure Date: 03/14/2014

Was determined by vob BMW that one or both fuel pumps is defective in the cars engine. The car has less than 50k miles. BMW is providing no assistance with this issue, I find this unbelievable due to the selling price of this vehicle. Repair cost is estimated at six thousand dollars. BMW states that the current defective fuel pumps will be replaced with the same exact parts that exist in the car, with a 90 day warranty. I am terrified to put the cash into the vehicle for the new pumps to fail after 40k miles as well. This issue needs to be investigated, this car is in immaculate condition & should not have had this issue at all. . .

9 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2003 BMW 760

Failure Date: 12/07/2012

My BMW has been having issues since around 40,000 miles and I finally just found out that the high pressure fuel pumps needed to be replaced. It seems to be happening to all of the 760 BMW's at around 40-50k miles. BMW is taking no responsibility for this. All you have to do is type in 2003, 2004 or 2005 760li BMW and the first thing that pops up is the hpfp. That should give you an idea of how many of these cars are having this issue. There aren't many of these made and it seems like most of them are having this issue. BMW ended up having to do a recall for there next models for the fuel pumps and it looks like our models should have been recalled too. The replacement cost on these parts are $4k per hpfp and there are 2 in the 760's.

10 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2006 BMW 760

Failure Date: 12/01/2012

Hard to start, cranks for a while till it builds up pressure then starts. Idles rough and sometimes dies when sitting at stop light, and sputtering power at time when taking off, also when it stalls while driving it is a total loss of power for steering and other controls, very dangerous when it happens. BMW states it is the high pressure fuel pump and the part is $2,700 + 1300 labor. This is the flagship car for BMW. Please recall and replace both pumps before someone gets killed.

11 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2004 BMW 760

Failure Date: 11/08/2012

Driving at 45mph when car stalled. Difficult to start. Drove 6 to 6. 5 miles to home via I-85 where car stalled multiple times including complete engine shut down. Lost all power to steering causing great concern for safety. 3 months and ~$10,000 later, both high pressure fuel pumps required replacement. Greater concern is the volume of incidents reported on BMW forums related to high pressure fuel pump failure going back to 2003. Please see the e65 forum on the bimmerfest web site at the number of members reporting the failures of the hpfp's and the concern for safety. These failures make the vehicle unsafe to operate on a consistent basis.
