One problem related to mechanical jack has been reported for the 2004 BMW X3. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The manufacturer supplied scissor style auto jack collapsed just before it reached full extension. Tire not yet clear of ground and no body parts near jack so no injuries or damage to car occurred. Potential consequences of failure after wheel removed are horrible.
