Tail Light Switch problems of the 2014 BMW X3

Three problems related to tail light switch have been reported for the 2014 BMW X3. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 10/22/2018

Tail light failure due to a manufacturing defect. Led driver boards are failing due to bad solder connections, components do not fail but the assembly does. I believe the defective solder joints are probably due to contamination on the bare circuit board. I've repaired mine (albeit probably only temporarily due to the contamination). . Read more...

3 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 12/11/2017

The soldering on the circuit board that controls the led tail lights fail and are not serviceable. Also the on board diagnostics does not alert when when the led tail lights are out.
