The rear cross traffic alert is not detecting vehicles, people or bicycles. I've had six close calls since purchasing the vehicle new last December. I took it to the sarasota BMW dealer last week and was told it's functioning as it's supposed to. While it was being assessed, I met with a BMW genius (tech support). We tested the rear cross traffic alert on another new BMW X3 and x5. The result was an unsatisfactory warning system in both vehicles. The BMW genius said it's a common complaint.
