Brand new 2025 BMW X3 loud suspension noise coming front the font below 20 miles per hour. The car has ~5,000 miles. It happens every time and is pretty consistent. You can hear every imperfection on the road. I think is can be a safety concert - I see multiple reports that having similar concern.
I am reporting a persistent and concerning mechanical issue with my 2025 BMW X3. A clunking noise is occurring frequently, particularly over uneven road surfaces and during normal driving maneuvers such as turning, accelerating, or braking at low speeds (generally below 20 mph). This noise is accompanied by a noticeable vibration that can be felt through the steering wheel and the brake pedal. The sound has been heard and confirmed by several passengers who have ridden in the vehicle with me. I have brought this issue to the attention of my local BMW dealership on August 6, 2025. During my visit, the service team was unable to replicate the issue and stated they could not confirm a problem. They advised me to continue driving the vehicle and suggested that if a defect exists, it would likely worsen over time and become easier to diagnose. I have since contacted the dealership again to request a more thorough inspection, as the issue has not resolved and remains a significant concern.
One morning, I tried to back my door out of garage and I couldn’t. I found front tire could not be turned. Found that front tire steering tie rod is snapped into 2 pieces. Further inspection showed that the steering rod had some deflects before broken. I took the photos to show the evidence.

Vehicle began intermittently turning lights on and off while parked and driving. Upon dealer inspection, sunroof frame failed causing water to leak and corrode the vdp module which controls items like the headlights and suspension. Dealer did confirm, vehicle is being repaired at this moment. There were no warning lights about the headlight malfunction, noticed it while driving and while parked. There was a warning light regarding the suspension however it turned off next start and only came back on once more, again disappearing next start. Upon completion of repair, can provide parts inspection, receipts and video of the lighting issue while parked.

While reversing heard a clanking noise (like a heavy wrench falling off from few feet). Came out and checked and found a broken piece of suspension coil spring near the front left wheel. Checked the inner portion of the coil with hand and felt uneven surface on the lower part of the coil similar to the unevenness on the broken part. Remaining coil is still hard to move and seems to be in place. Car is only 6 yrs old and driven for less than 35k miles. Asked around with local shops and they say with this age and miles it should not crack like this and could be a quality issue. No rust is visible and remaining part of coil looks intact. Please check photo as well.
My vehicle malfunctioned last week because of the fault harness. Vehicle had a slight fire and now is not drivable. BMW does not want to comply.

I traded a 2021 X3 sdrive on a 2024 X3 sdrive. I immediately noticed a steering wheel vibration/buzz feeling at 1100-1200 rpm. Long story short, apparently BMW has removed the top dampers on the front struts on the 2024 model. They, BMW na, say they aren't needed and that the vehicle "meets us specs". The vibration is almost like the lane departure vibration you get.

I purchased by 2022 BMW X3 new in September of 2021. Since then I have had re-occurring safety issues with the car involving steering and suspension components. I've had the front thrust rod replaced at least three times. The vehicle clunks when in reverse and consumes front tires. I had to order front tires for the car with only about 15k miles on them. I had the vehicle alignment checked multiple times and was informed that the car is in correct alignment specs. My biggest frustration is that BMW consistently lies to me and does everything in it's power to deny that there are issues with the vehicle. The thrust rod issue is a known issue which has multiple technical service bulletins. They actually re-engineered the part because it was designed so poorly that they constantly break. BMW, of course, has tried to hide this information and denies that there is anything wrong with the component. I was informed that they would be placing a re-engineered part on my car once it was available - however they had no eta according to the dealership because BMW needs so many of these parts to replace their faulty components. When I refused to pick up the car suddenly a re-engineered part was available. I have dozens of service invoices for this issue and e-mails with the dealership and BMW representatives lying and covering up information to prevent a recall of their substandard vehicle. Recently, my steering wheel has started to get "stuck" while driving. I have to use brute force to move the wheel which results in erratic maneuvers on the highway. I brought the vehicle back to BMW who, as usual, said there is nothing wrong with it. When I refused to drive the car due to safety concerns, suddenly it needs a new steering column. Upon research, this is also apparently a huge issue with the X3's. My vehicle has proven unsafe to drive and BMW has no concern about my safety or welfare. I have a lot of evidence and service invoices if needed.

I was driving down the street from my home and I slowed down turned right and my car was out of control I steered to the curb. I got out and saw that the tire had blown-up and a large piece of the tire which was cut in half was on the ground. I couldn’t drive the car I called a tow truck driver who was there within 30 min he towed my car to BMW. It hasn’t been fully inspected I am waiting for usaa to inspect with spectrum collision. Several people from the collision company have said it may be a tire failure.

First failure 3/22- vehicle makes clanking/rattling of metal sound when going over bumps. Sound is felt near driver caliper and rattles. Can be felt in steering. 4/22 vehicle is taken to BMW for inspection; needed to come back as they couldn't figure it out. 5/22 vehicle sound is replicated by BMW dealer service center. I have not received any warning messages or lights prior. Current lights that stay lit longer than usual are the assisted driving and the hazard. This has been since the power failure however. Vehicle has been out of service for a collective 150+ days this year. No remedy to to issue. 11/22 car broke down again on the highway; extreme shaking, bouncing, loose and uncontrolled steering. 12/22 car back in service and immediate rattle under front driver's side, loose steering and wobbly tires. Electrical failure, no start and all dash lights glowing. (possible battery issue). 1/23 car is back to BMW for further inspection. No information yet I believe safety and others is at risk because there have been two times that I was driving and the car felt that is was not controllable. The BMW service center has had it in their garage 5 occasions without remedy. One certified mechanic has been unable to diagnose as well. Parts repaired: struts, guides, swing arm/sway, both front lower control arms, tires and drivers side cv axle.
The car is not stable on highways, drifts left or right, even after wheel alignment done by a BMW dealer. Constant corrections needed every 5-10 sec to stay in lane.
For the past 3 months, I keep getting this message on the dashboard: drivetrain malfunction: drive moderately. Maximum drivetrain output available. Consult service center. I had the turbo, vacuum hose, replaced last month. Now it is doing the same thing over and over again. Why is this happening?? please advise!!.

At between 52 mph and say 60 mph steering wheel buzzes and shakes. Seems to be something with lane depart system even when shut off. Excessive front pass tire wear also. No fix from dealer yet?.
The contact owns a 2018 BMW X3. The contact stated while driving at 65-70 mph, the vehicle became unstable. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact reduced the vehicle speed and regained control of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to wide world of cars BMW located at (125 NY-59, spring valley, NY 10977) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the failure was due to tire treadwear. The tires were not replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 14,000.

While driving at about 25 mph on residential street, felt an unusual "bump", continued driving home with no apparent problem. Started car next morning and felt an unusual vibration and noise which dissapeared when driving. Vibration at idle continued, two days later, after driving on freeway, I found a broken bolt under the car in garage, I immediately took car to dealer service department. Was told that several motor mount bolts had sheared and was lucky no serious damage occurred. Quick internet search indicated sheared motor mount bolts to be a problem with BMW X3 years 2007 & 2008. Broken motor mount bolts could result in serious accident and/or injury - again, I was lucky.
