Side/rear Glass problems of the 2000 BMW X5

Three problems related to side/rear glass have been reported for the 2000 BMW X5. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Side/rear Glass problem

Failure Date: 02/10/2010

The contact owns a 2000 BMW X5. The contact stated that the front driver and rear passenger windows have fallen inside the door due to a faulty regulator. The contact has taken the vehicle to a dealer to have the driver side window repaired and five days after the repair the rear passenger side window broke. The contact has called the manufacturer and requested that they assume the cost since the warranty has expired. The contact is concerned that a defect investigation was not available for his year make and model vehicle. The failure mileage was 60,000.

2 Side/rear Glass problem

Failure Date: 09/21/2000

Consumer removed package from the rear of vehicle and closed the tailgate, the next morning glass from the tailgate had disintegrated, consumer feels this is a major safety problem and requests dealer pay for replacement window.

3 Side/rear Glass problem

Failure Date: 09/05/2000

Hooking mechanism used to hold up the shade does not hold,. When it unlatches there is a loud popping noise that distracts driver. Also, they fly across vehicle and could hit child in the eye. Piece is so small that a child could easily choke.
