The contact son owns a 2009 BMW X5. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 30 mph, the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to veer the vehicle off the road. No warning lights was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump module failed and needed to be replaced. The contact was then informed by the mechanic of the NHTSA campaign number 16v7416000 (fuel system, gasoline). The dealer was notified of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was included in the NHTSA campaign number 16v7416000 (fuel system, gasoline). The vehicle was then towed to the dealer where the contact was then informed that the VIN was included the NHTSA campaign number 22v119000 (engine and engine cooling) but not the initial recall related to the failure. The vehicle had not yet been repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included in a recall and advised to call the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.
