Tl the contact owns a 2012 BMW X5. While the engine was running, the contact heard an abnormal noise. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle exhibited the same symptoms as listed in NHTSA campaign number: 12v019000 (power train). The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and stated that the torque converter was fractured. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified and stated they could not assist. The failure mileage was approximately 109,533.
