general problems of the 2014 BMW X5

Water pump I went to 2 BMW dealerships, buffalo and PA, for repair and neither could diagnose and repair. I went to local repair shop and they changed water pump. I would like to be reimbursed for this recalled repair. Please advise.

My car was parked in front of my home and the next morning after a heavy rainstorm, both the front driver and front passenger foot well were filled with water. This is a big issue since the carpet is wet and a ripe breading ground for mould. This issue is concerning since I would expect a BMW vehicle to have no opportunity for leaking water from the outside.

BMW X5 continued flooding panoramic sunroof leaks manufacturing defect. Flooding interior. The moister make the X5 dangerous to drive ( floor drivers side over one pint of water, driving ability impacted, brakes, no visibility due to severe condensation on windshield, electrical components damaged. BMW of north America is aware of this nationwide problem. This X5 BMW X5 extended coverage +Feb 15, 2020, certified +2. Maintenance plan Feb 15, 2020 + cpo plan covers defects of materials until 2021 and or 100k miles on both incidents of water damage the vehicle was parked on a residential street.

Our BMW X5 2014 had a sudden spontaneous fire which engulfed the entire car when it was driven on the highway.

Sunroof exploded while driving at 60 mph.

My car caught on fire by itself while I was driving on a suburban street with the entire family in the car. It was quickly consumed by flames. I stopped at an intersection and we all got out thankfully.

As I was driving on the highway at 70 mph, my locked passenger side door came unlatched. I heard the wind from the outside and the alert came on, that's how I knew it came open. I had already been driving for an hour, so I know it had been closed. Three days later, my locked rear passenger door did the same thing. I had been driving for ten minutes that time and I was going 30 mph. Both times, the door lock remained in the down position. This greatly concerns me as a safety issue.

Doors open by themselves, when locked, while driving the vehicle at various speeds. This has been happening for no apparent reason. (this vehicle has soft-close doors, comfort access option) first incident was on 6 sept. 2014 at 6:35 am. I made a right turn and began to merge onto a dark highway and was startled when the lights turned on inside the cabin, a warning light/door open indicator illuminated in the dash and I heard air rushing through my driver's door. It had popped open and was ajar and the door lock was still down. I was driving about 35-40 mph beginning the acceleration to the speed limit of 55. (it was early morning, dark, and to suddenly have the lights come on and warning indicators illuminate was very scary) I wasn't able to safely pull over due to other cars around me and I couldn't pull the door completely closed by pulling on it. I had to hold the door with my hand until there were no other cars around. Then, while driving, I had to open the door quickly and slam it shut. I wasn't able to keep the vehicle completely steady in the lane when doing so. This could easily have caused a crash. I was positive the door was closed completely when I left the house, soft close doors always close completely, no door open indicators were lit, and my vehicle won't let you drive away if a door is open. I was on the road about 30-40 minutes or so when the incident occurred. The exact thing happened again, 2 weeks later, when I made a left turn into the driveway where I work, turned right and pulled into a parking space. While I was pulling in, the passenger front door popped open exactly like the first incident. We brought it into BMW on 7 oct. , there is TSB with the "fix", they had our car for 5 days. Replaced bowden cables and put in a modified part. On 2 November it happened again to the left rear door. I took pictures and a video. It's going back to BMW 4 Nov.

Floor mats (factory installed) have an adhesive velcro on the underside to attach to the floor of the vehicle. In the heat the adhesive holding the velcro becomes unattached allowing the floor-mat to shift forward and depress the accelerator.

While returning home from chicago, around 3:30 pm on Sunday 07/26/14 - I was exiting I-88 on the route 31 exit ramp. Halfway up the ramp the trunk/hatch of the X5 opened on its own. The car was traveling approx. 28 - 30 mph when the hatch opened under its own control. Both of the drivers (my) hands were on the steering wheel turning the vehicle well away from the trunk controls located on the driver side door at the time. My dog was located in the back/trunk of the car when the hatch decided to open. Luckily he was sleeping at the time it opened as there is usually no holding him back when it comes to entering or exiting the car. Combine this with the fact that I think he was confused as to why the car was still moving at the time the hatch opened, that by the time I got the car pulled over and in park; the dog (sarge), was just on the verge of jumping out and I was able to catch him when he attempted to do so. I was fortunate that the car directly behind me on the ramp saw the dog and stopped so I was able to gather the dog and return him to the car safely. I then proceeded to close the trunk using the button located on the hatch. The hatch/door operated without incident for the remainder of the ride home. While I'm grateful that no one was was hurt or injured as result of this incident, the scene was still kind of terrifying. You're driving and the trunk on your SUV magically comes under power and opens on it's own? while the car was moving? with my dog in the trunk? what if I was doing 55 mph on the highway and I was in the middle lane of the highway? I previously scheduled the car for service because the trunk wouldn't open, but then it started working again, so I never brought the car in for service. So I've gone from the trunk not wanting to open to opening on it's own while the car is in drive and in motion.

This happened to me while driving a brand new 2014 BMW X5 on 3 separate occasions (different days) the drivers door and the left rear passenger door both opened while driving. The door will open to the point that I can hear the wind coming through the door. I get a sign on the dash board that the door is open, interior lights goes on, however, without the audible sound to warn that a door is open. If I try to pull on the door to close it, it will not close unless I completely open the door and slam it shut. If I try to push the door to open it without pulling the handle it would not open either. I took my car to my local BMW local dealership after the second time it happened and they took it in to check: the electrical wiring on the doors, the locks and finally reprogrammed the car. Three days later the same issue happened on the driver passenger door while I was driving and as I was turning. I felt the door moving as it opened, got the visible display that the door opened however without the audible alarm again. The door locks I have have the automatic suction door shutting system and the door locks automatically engage as soon as I drive off.

My vehicle has soft-close doors, after closing the doors they popped open while driving, not fully open, only about a half-inch, enough to be ajar and for the open door indicator to light up on the dashboard. This happened 4 times in the first 5 weeks of owning the vehicle and BMW has not been able to fix it, giving it back to me each time with the claim that they are unable to reproduce the problem. On one occasion, and as requested by the dealership, I drove the car back with an ajar door without touching it or turning off the engine. The dealership took a photo and stated that this shouldn't have happened given that the car has soft-close doors and that it won't actually start driving if any door is still slightly open. I have a copy of the photo as proof, but the dealership upon instruction from BMW na was instructed to return the vehicle stating that it has no issue. The dealership did replace the locking mechanisms on the two doors (both front and rear passenger side doors) that became ajar, but it happened again, the fourth time.
