Air bag light stays lit.
The airbag indicator light on the instrument panel has been alight for sometime. I'm not certain if it's an airbag failure or whether it's on the drivers or passenger side. I was surprised not to find my auto included in the takata airbag recall list event. Can you shed any light on this matter? if so, many thanks in advance.
Driver and passenger seats move forward/backwards during acceleration and breaking at any speed, gas gauge reads empty on full tank or fluxes on dash and air bag light stays on for 3-5 min. At a time when starting up ignition.

Upon starting the car the air bag light came on and stayed on. This is the third time this has happened. The first two time it cost approximately $350 to repair. For this to happen a third time is indicative of a design fault.

The airbag fault light came on in our 1998 BMW Z3 (with less than 16,000 miles on the odometer), indicating the airbag (or airbags) and seat belt tensioners were no longer functioning. The dealer service representative said this was "a common problem" with this model and told us exactly what most likely cause of the problem prior to any diagnosticsthat there was a fault in the seatbelt latch and wiring that caused high resistance. The cost of repairs was $825. A google search shows this same problem is essentially ubiquitous. I searched for BMW Z3 airbag light on, and I got nearly 40,000 hits. Looking randomly at some of these hits, I find each contains multiple actual instances of this problem occurring. . Read more...

Passenger got into front seat and adjusted it down and back with the power seat controls. Airbag light illuminated and has been on ever since. I checked for broken or damaged wiring but found nothing obvious. BMW is recalling many of their new cars, but it seems their old ones exhibit the same failures.
Repeated problems with the car's airbag. The airbag light comes on and stays on. I had this problem before and I paid BMW to fix it. They told me that it was something with the seatbelt. The light has come on again.
While driving, the air bag light illuminateed on the dashboard, the airbag sensor was replaced. . Consumer stated the seat belt tensioner and harness was causing the air bag light and engine light to come on, the hood sensor for the alarm was replaced, there was a faulty thermostat that caused damage to the radiator, the glove box was replaced and the seat came out of place when stopping.
1998 BMW Z3, 1. 9. Srs (airbag light) constantly coming on ever since I bought it! I had it fixed 3 times already at the dealership supposedly under waranty but still costing me atleast 100 dollars r "diagnostic fees". It came on again and I give up. Its been on for about 6 months now. Why bother getting it fixed if it will just come on again! I am going to try buying the diagnostic tool myself and seeing if I can handle it myself.
Airbag light in dasboard remains illuminated. Seatbelts appear to work, but I have had the car inspected by 2 different service shops (dave walter BMW and autobahn - both in akron, OH) and have been told that the cause is a faulty seatbelt lock on the driver's side seat.
Air bag light on. Brought to BMW charged $80 to diagnose, saw internet other owners same problem / then foundout there is a service bulliten.
