Manual Transmission Problems of BMW Z3

I have a 2003 BMW z4 with sequential manual gearbox. The car automatically shifts into neutral without any warning. This is very dangerous when you are trying to merge into traffic. I was almost in an accident because I stepped on the gas and the car didn't move. The car is supposed to shift into 1st gear automatically when stopping but then it shifts to neutral without touching the shift knob and it does so whenever it decides to do it. This is a situation that needs to be addressed immediately and BMW states there is no recalls on it or service bulletins. Manual transmission. . . Violently pops out of first gear to neutral position upon accelerating from stop. . Dangerous, as car behind expects continued forward motion, but must instead, await another shift into first and possible repeat of popping out of gear. Happens often. Significant expense to repair. Should dealer pay for all?.

On the Z3 2. 3 manual transmission model the computer causes the engine to keep revving after the throttle is released, sometimes for 2 or 3 seconds. The dealer said all Z3 2. 3 moldels do this. I feel this is unsafe as it requires extra attention when shifting because it does not occur consistently. The dealer stated that there are aftermarket computer chips that will fix this, I feel the manufacturer should fix this.
