The brake slide is aluminum blocks with stainless steel pins. This is improper design since a catalyst action corrodes the aluminum causing aluminum oxide to freeze the pins making the brakes to seize against the rotor. This burns the pads and caused breaking away of pad material. I have only 28000 miles and the brakes are gone. Also results in low fuel milage. Possible cause of highway accident such as happened in spring killing a woman on I-65 south of indianapolis. I was fortunate no personal accident occurred. Wrote gm and was brushed off. Vehicle used only on trips with mostly highway miles. But brakes are gone so replaced but will not fix gm problem. Black and polished like black onyx stone.
