1 Power Steering Pump problem

Failure Date: 08/12/2019

2011 Buick Enclave makes a whining noise when accelerating, turning and slowing down. Dealership informed me that car is "cold" and needs warming up because temperature has changed. However, my car was making this noise just not as bad during the summer. I asked if it was the power steering pump or if I needed fluid. They informed me they capped off the fluid during each of my service visits but the noise is still there. Now I'm going to have to take it somewhere else for a second opinion after reading other people's issues with their Enclave. My issue is always during start up, turning and stopping which is a huge problem. It has been escalating for the past few months. It's worst now.

2 Power Steering Pump problem

The contact also indicated that while operating the vehicle, the check engine light had illuminated. The mechanic diagnosed that the timing change needed to be repaired. The failure was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000.

3 Power Steering Pump problem

Failure Date: 11/14/2015

Recently had to replace my power steering gear due to leaking seals that caused failure. Also power steering pump had to be replaced. Power steering pump is covered under special gm warranty (14329 ¿loss of power steering assist¿), but not power steering gear. In doing research, it seems many consumers have experienced a similar issue, but gm has not issued a recall for the power steering gear.

4 Power Steering Pump problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2015

We own a 2011 Buick Enclave with 84240 miles. After a routine oil change were shocked to find out from the dealer that there is now a leaking steering rack and steering pump that will need to be replaced neither of which are covered by gm . The cost is over $2300. 00. This is my wife's car and is used daily to transport not only our own but other children as well. We have no choice but to remediate the problem. After doing very little research it is obvious that this is a known defect and that gm is choosing to ignore the risk to those driving their vehicles. This is actually our second Enclave and until know we have enjoyed their reliability and the service we have received. Based on this experience it will be the last gm car we buy. We will be seeking reimbursement from gm.

5 Power Steering Pump problem

Failure Date: 01/09/2015

December 2014 lift gate was up and suddenly came down and hit my wife with great force. This happened twice but not consistently. Subsequently was taken to a Chevrolet/gm dealership, found both struts not holding pressure and were replaced at owner's expense. On the morning of January 9,2015 driving during a snow storm on an interstate suddenly vehicle lost stabiltrab, traction control and engine power was reduced to 15 mph. Due to the weather traffic was going slower than normal. Car driven to a Chevrolet/gm dealer where the throttle body was replaced at owner's expense. On January 14, 2015 owner brought car to have power steering pump replaced due to gm September 2014 notice and owner informed that power steering rack was leaking. Although not replacing the power steering rack would lead to failure of the new power steering pump, this component was not covered. Owner paid a portion to have the rack replace. This repair required a front end alignment for which the owner paid for.

6 Power Steering Pump problem

Failure Date: 03/21/2014

I began to make loud squeaking noises when making left and right turns. In addition, as time progressed I would feel pressure when turning the steering wheel. Due to fear of steering wheel not being able to turn, I took the vehicle to the dealership. The dealership said that the vehicle needed a new steering pump and rack. Gm said they would not cover the entire cost. The total cost was $2600 and gm said it would only cover $1600. Owner feels gm should cover the entire cost since this is a safety issue and the car is only 2,000 miles over 50,000 mile warranty. This is not a usual wear and tear car issue.
