Tailgate Problems of Buick Enclave

The tailgate will not stay open. Car is of course stationary and when you open tailgate it will not ever stay open and forcibly shuts no matter who or what is in the way. Several people have suffered bruises and bumps.

Tl the contact owns a 2009 Buick Enclave. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator illuminated. Also, the front passenger and rear driver's side seat belts would not lock. In addition, the tailgate was difficult to pull down and the tire sensor, air bag, and check engine warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the seat belts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 15v415000 (structure). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was unknown.

Tl the contact owns a 2008 Buick Enclave. The contact stated that the tailgate did not function properly. When the tailgate was utilized, the door would raise up, but would automatically fall down and not remain in the upward position. Also, the sun roof leaked water into the vehicle. As a result, mildew covered the front and rear floors. Furthermore, the air bag indicator remained illuminated and would not turn off. There were no warning indicators illuminated for the tailgate or sun roof. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 141,966.

Took my vehicle in to have NHTSA campaign 15v415000 completed (liftgate strut failure). Took the vehicle home from the dealership and the first time I lifted the tailgate it fell on me. Called them up and they say "OH yes I guess the gas struts need replacing -- the program change didn't do it" . Appalling recall service at phillips Buick/GMC in leesburg, florida if you ask me.

The tailgate/liftgate is broken for the second time. The first time it was replaced was when it had only 40,403 miles. Now, it is broken again at 77,000. The hatch will go up automatically, but doesn't hold so it comes crashing down. This is very dangerous! am I to expect that every 30,000-40,000 it needs to be replaced?.
