Vehicle has 112,000 miles, attempted to replace the tires & was told that the wheels are no good, the chrome is peeling, therefore when the old tires were removed, the chrome fell off, therefor wheels won't hold air! dealer inspected & told me it's out of warranty & the cost would be 4600,00. I'm told this is very common with these wheels! dealer is jim curley, lakewood, NJ. Had a second tire shop look at the wheels & they confirmed this problem exists with these wheels!.

Factory wheel rims constantly loose air at the edge/ need of the rims. After attempts to resolve the problem had failed. Some research, apparently this is a common issue with these factory rims. The issue is, rim material deterioration/ pitting at the tire need area. Adding air every week. Why would this not be a safety issue?.
While driving on the interstate the tire pressure monitor indicated a low left rear tire. I stopped and added the necessary air and continued driving. In about 10 miles the monitor indicated that the tire was low again. I stopped as soon as possible to have it checked. Upon inspection I was told that the tire was ok but the wheel had a1 inch hairline crack in the bead area on the inside side of the rim. There was no indication of damage to the wheel or tire or wheel. I feel that this was a defective wheel made in china. This was a gm aluminum 20 inch wheel. This defective could have caused a serious accident. I don't think that I can take a picture that would show the crack. As it is a hairline crack.
We have replaced 3 wheel bearings in the 7 years we have owned this car. Seems like a lot.

Control arm bushing failed, causing the control arm to grind into the sub frame of the car. The sub frame is aluminum and was damaged very quickly. This issue gave no indication and only became apparent under visual inspection while the car was being serviced for another complaint. The sub frame could fail completely causing steering suspension and brakes to fail.
The contact owns a 2006 Buick Lacrosse. While driving 30 mph, the front driver side wheel began to make an abnormal noise. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the lug nuts and the control arm needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. In addition, while at a stop and attempting to make a left turn, another vehicle crashed into the rear of the contact's vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. The abs and electronic stability control warning indicators illuminated. The contact sustained back, right arm, and right leg injuries that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an auto body repair center for body repairs, but was not diagnosed or repaired for the failure. After the vehicle was repaired for the crash, the gear shifter was shifted into the drive position and the vehicle began to roll backwards. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The contact was aware of NHTSA campaign numbers: 06v417000 (air bags) and 14v355000 (electrical system). The failure mileage was 100,000. The VIN was unavailable.
Bought car new. Original goodyear eagle ls2 tires with 5 belted radial including 2 steel belts. 3000 miles on car. Proper inflation. Speed 40 mph state road divided highway night, not turning. Heard rumbling high pitch sounds which I first thought was transmission, but was anti skid/abs computer assisted braking. Car pulled sharply right, instrument panel showed right tire -0- psi. Complete tire failure sidewall & smoking. Tire material was totally disintegrated. Towed by aaa. Gm dealership is assessing damage. Marked p235/50r18 97h 0216640.
A 5 inch piece of metal broke off the wheel resulting in damaging the tire and causing serious safety concern. This piece of metal broke off from the inside section of the wheel, which faces the engine bay, ruling out the fact that it was caused by debris or impact from a curb or road. There was no other damage to the wheel, such as warped tires or dents or dings on the wheel, which should have been there if the damage was caused due to road hazard. As can be seen from the pictures the damage could only have been caused by structural issues with the wheel.

A four to six inch piece if metal broke off from the left front wheel (rim) of the car, without any external impact (pot hole or curb). This resulted in the rim piercing the tire and blowing its side walls. This collapse (damage) occurred from the inside section of the wheel (the side facing the engine bay) further indicating that it could not have been caused due to the car hitting a curb. Further there was no damage (bent rim or something similar) to the rest of wheel and rim which would have indicated a collapse due to the wheel hitting an object on the pavement. The large piece of metal broke off from the rim due to structural deficiency in the rim, which then resulted in the tire blowing up and causing a serious safety concern.
The contact owns a 2005 Buick Lacrosse. The contact stated that the chrome wheels associated with the framing was wearing prematurely on the outside of the two front tires. The dealer was notified where it was diagnosed that the 17-inch chrome a star wheels/framing needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the wheels constantly lost air pressure and 10 to 15 pounds of air had to be placed back into the two front tires due to the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 116,000.

The vehicle start making a funny noise and it kept getting louder and louder, then all of a sudden it cuts off. I was able to restart the vehicle after I sat for a while but it is still making a funny noise. I have been told by a mechanic today that it is the power steering. That will have to be fixed. I am sure that it will cost a lot of money.
Approximately two months after purchasing a Buick Lacrosse I started to experience the vehicle shutting down when the car was parked or idle. Shortly after the check engine light came on. I then took the vehicle to the dealer and they claim they could not find anything wrong with it. I decided to get a second opinion so I took the vehicle to another certied repair shop and they suggested that I get and upper engine flush. Supposedly because this type of vehicle is known for massive amounts of carbon build up. So, I got the upper engine flush on my vehicle but the very next day the check engine light came on again. The. Machanic advised me that it would take more than one engine flush to fix the problem. So after not two but three upper engine flushes the problem of having the check engine light intermittently display is not resolved . No one can seem to find a diagnosis for my vehicle problems not even the dealer. Most recently, the dash board display light periodically goes out, and an unfamiliar noise is coming from the driver's front tire. Once again, I have taken my vehicle to a certified machanic and the issue is not detectable.
The contact owns a 2006 Buick Lacrosse. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, he heard a click near the front driver's side tire. The contact exited the vehicle and noticed that the hubcap was rubbing against the valve stem, wearing the rubber down to the metal. The contact also noticed that the other tires exhibited the same defect. The vehicle was not take to the dealer for inspection and was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,000. Updated 11/19/lj all four of the valve stems were worn down to where the rubber was molded. The consumer replaced the tires.
The contact owns a 2007 Buick Lacrosse. The contact stated that while cleaning the rim on the tires, the tire stem became detached. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the technician diagnosed that the valve stem needed to be replaced and the sensors needed to be re-calibrated. The contact mentioned that after the repairs, the tires were continuously loosing air. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not further repaired. The VIN was not available. The failure and current mileage was 46,000.
After starting engine and placing gear in drive, the car accelerated on its own so fast that it left tire marks on the pavement from where the acceleration started. The car passed through the parking lot lane, over two curbs, slightly scraping a small post in the parking lot causing the damage to the right side of the car. After trying to stop the car by applying the brakes and shifting to neutral and the car running over two curbs and steered into bales of hay which helped bring the car to a stop, shut the engine off and got out of the car. The car was towed to the Buick dealer and Buick div. Was informed and the following is the number assigned to the case by Buick: 71-1193021021.
Front left tire and rim came off. Spoke of the wheel remained. Left rear tire blew. Fragments from left front wheel pierced tire. Police report 31-798-12. . . Updated 11/07/12.
The contact owns a 2007 Buick Lacrosse. The contact stated that upon inspection, all four wheels were found to have been losing air due to corrosion. In addition, the low tire pressure warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the mechanic stated that all four wheels had to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 50,000. The current mileage was 65,000. Updated 11/19/lj.
2010 Buick Lacrosse cxs the other evening as I was driving home with my wife a little before sunset at about 30 mph I heard a thump and assumed I had hit something. Neither my wife or I had seen anything in the street. I continued to drive home (3 blocks) and the car drove normally - no change. When I got home I examined the front of the car (drivers side) and saw nothing unusual but noticed the back right tire was flat. I got out the jack and changed to the spare. Upon looking at the tire I found no apparent damage to the tire other than it was obvious I was driving with the tire flat. Upon closer examination of the wheel itself I found a gash in the wheel about 6" long and elevated up into the tire area over an inch. Of course all of the air escaped through the gash - no blowout. Went to the dealer (3800 miles on the cxs) and they determined I had hit something in the street - no warranty coverage. Cost for new wheel and tire - $1002. 00 went back to examine the road (no potholes) and finally found a rock off the side of the road that apparently caused the problem. It was a rock, flat on both sides about 2 1/2" thick and about the size of a red brick only oblong. Have no idea how it hit the back tire and not the front. I am convinced that had the tire been an older 15" or 16" tire the tire would of absorbed the hit and not damaged the wheel. Of course it may have blown a tire but the wheel would of been in good shape. With the roads becoming so bumpy with potholes I now worry about hitting a bad spot in the road and having the same thing happen again. I carry a $1000 deductible insurance so insurance will not be involved. (in 50 years of driving I have not had an accident that was my fault or any other damage to one of my cars - so I carry a high deductible). Just a word of warning to those who have the 19" tires (and probably the 18") that a bump in the road may do more damage to the fancy aluminum wheel that the tire.
