Eight problems related to ignition have been reported for the 1997 Buick Lesabre. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
I had taken this vehicle back to the Buick dealership where I purchased it at 34k miles and told them it had a "miss" and that it "hesitated" driving down the road. They said it was a spark plug and replaced one. The last time I took it to another Buick dealer it needed 4,200. 00 to make it road worthy including a new water pump, new transmission, new brakes and rotors. The service code on the car should have indicated failure of these parts when I took it to the first dealer.
While driving at 25 mph vehicle will stall. Then, consumer could start car again. About 4 days later, it stalled again, and would not start for about 5 minutes. Took to dealer , and they could not duplicate the problem. If on the highway, there would have been an accident.
Vehicle stalled between 25-65mph. It has happened 5-6 times. Dealer had vehicle twice, each time for a week. They couldn't fix it until it failed again.
Ignition would not start.
On two occasions the ignition failed to start.
While driving vehicle at night the headlights go dim for no reason. Owner has taken vehicle to dealer, and was told its the design of vehicle. Owner further notes that this problem has almost caused accidents. Ses light illuminated. When there is not even 300 pounds in vehicle and going over bumps, it bottoms out, dealer replaced rear springs and weak coil springs. Consumer had to wiggle key to get it out of the door, dealer filed key and lubricated the lock cylinder.
From time to time when slowing down the vehicle loses power/ stalls. Please describe in detail.
While driving at highway speed engine will stall out on this vehicle, but vehicle will start right back up. Dealer has been contacted.
