Water Pump problems of the 1998 Buick Lesabre

Two problems related to water pump have been reported for the 1998 Buick Lesabre. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Water Pump problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2002

Engine backfiring on 1998 Buick Lesabre. Recall# 04v090000. The heater failed and the consumer was informed that a water pump was needed. The engine also died with less than 100k miles. The consumer requested reimbursement.

2 Water Pump problem

Failure Date: 08/08/2001

While driving 65 mph consumer noticed fluid leaking from underneath the vehicle. It was taken to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic determined that the water pump needed to be replaced, and replaced it. However, the problem recurred, and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer. Mechanic determined that the engine needed to be replaced.
