I bought this car may 2010 from gregory automotive group in new castle DE. I immediately had a propblem with the speedometer the day I bought it, took it back to the dealership and was told that it wasnt a big deal, this problem was covered by by warranty and I would just need to pay a $100. 00 deductible. I took it to my local Buick dealership and they told me that it isn't covered under the warranty I bought from the dealer and I would have to pay out of pocket for the repairs. My next issue is the gas gauge started to mess up; wrong readings and gas levels left me out of gas and very upset. I will be taking this back to Buick to see if I am at all eligible to recieve recall benefits or something because the amount to fix these issues are greater than I can afford within the year and some change of owning the veh. And I also want to say I did research and do a carfax on the car and it came back with accurate mileage, one owner and no accidents and I jumped on it, only to have a nice car without a working speedometer and gas gauge. I thought Buicks were good solid cars. . . . . .

I am currently the owner of a 1998 Buick Lesabre with approximately 24,600 miles. I recently had to have the fuel pressure regulator replaced on the vehicle after the car backfired and the service engine light appeared on the vehicle. The engine was chugging and the exhaust smelled like gasoline and burning plastic. At the service shop where I had my car repaired, the mechanic informed me that it was good I brought the car in so soon because this sort of problem if not fixed could have resulted in a possible fire. I contacted Buick customer service in regards to the problem and was informed that my specific vehicle was not involved in any recalls and that the fuel regulator in my vehicle was not a part of any Buick recalls. When asked if I could receive some documentation that my specific vehicle was not a part of any recalls, I was told that they could not provide me with that paperwork and that anyone else could talk to with Buick would tell me the same thing in regards to my vehicle.
The contact has owned a 2000 Buick Lesabre since February 23, 2010. The driver stated that he received a call and the dealer informed him that his vehicle had a fuel pressure recall. The vehicle was scheduled to be repaired by the dealer; however, the dealer later told him that the recall repair was performed in 2004 and they could not repair it again. The current and failure mileages were 215,000.
The first incident was around 40,000 miles. The gas guage would not work, after filling it up the guage would "stick" or the hand would drop down to the thermostat needle. Very irratic. Carried it to the dealer and naturally, everyyhing appeared to be working. 52,000 miles and the guage is dead - of course the warranty was out also. It was explained that I would have to replace the entire cluster of guages and I could not afford that at the time. Car now has 79,000 miles, I have been using the oddometer so I will know when I need gas. A few weeks ago, looked at the speedometer and it read my speed as 120 mph. I immediately pulled over and at a dead stop, the speedometer was setting on 60 mph. Now I am concerned about the entire cluster readings. The thermostat will jump up to the red, hot reading which is wrong. Now I am going to be out huge dollars that appears to be something gm should repair.

Vehicle had been decreasing in miles per gallon steadily, reason for taking it to the shop. Was told that the upper intake cover was cracked at some point in time. This could have ceased the engine due to antifreeze seeping into the crack.
After months of dealing with no start of my vehicle know my manifold needs replaced I've contacted Buick and they say my VIN is not with the VIN included with the recall I don't under stand im lost I've tried getting help with this situation and I will write Buick and everything but this is a manufacturers default that has not been corrected on my vehicle.
: the contact stated the vehicle back fired causing an explosion when an attempt was made to turn vehicle on. The vehicle was rendered un-drivable and was towed to dealers for service. The dealers determined that a leaky fuel regulator caused the back fire that destroyed upper intake of manifold, which could also lead to fires. The dealers replaced the fuel regulator and upper intake manifold. The manufacturer was also contacted to see if vehicle was part of a recall. The manufacturers determined the vehicle was not a part of the recall.
Recall concerning defect in fuel pressure regulator diaphragm leak. Recall# 04v090000. There was a thump when the vehicle was in motion which had come from the rear when the brakes were applied. This had turned into a severe jolt. Both wheel cylinders were defective and were contaminated and need to be replaced. The defective wheel cylinder leaked fluid into the rear brake assembly. The consumer requested reimbursement.

The consumer noticed that it was difficult to start the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who determined that the fuel pressure regulator failed. The dealer supplied the parts and the consumer paid $80. 00.
While attempting to start the vehicle in the garage, the consumer heard an explosion in the engine compartment. Dealer informed the consumer that fuel pressure regulator was the problem. The explosion caused damage to the engine and the hood.
There was a smell of gas in the truck area of the automobile, the dealer informed consumer the fuel sending unit needed to be replaced.
Consumer can smell gas coming from vehicle, also fuel is leaking onto engine compartment. Cause unknown. Dealer notified. . Consumer states gas fumes are present when vehicle is started.
Vehicle has stalled 4 times at 25-30 mph. Dealer has replaced fuel filter. But this has not remedied the problem. The fuel pressure regulator was also replaced due to fuel leak.
Shortly after taking delivery of vehicle which had 60 miles on it,I noticed when accelerating from a stop or accelerating when turning the car lost power. I would press the gas and it wouldn't go. Took to paul batt Buick & skill Buick many, many times, never found problem. At 30k miles,Buick said I should change fluid & check the pan fluid, which showed nothing. Problem still occurs. This could be a hazard if vehicle behind me thinks I'm moving and car slows to a near stop w/o brake lights going on. I have 55k miles on it now & problem still occurs. Neither Buick or the dealer has attempted to resolve this problem. Skill Buick and paul batt Buick were less than helpful.
Vehicle experienced fire, the cause of the fire was accidental, part failure, malfunction, the fire originated at the engines fueling system on the intake housing side, claim 53-c681-096.
Ltr fwd fm cpsc complaint re his 1998 Buick Lesabre, he took car in for a recall, and now the car is more dangerous than before gm "repaired" it. After the vehicles recall repairs were made it leaked fuel vapors and stalled.
Writer submitted reimbursement information to general motors (gm) owner of a Buick Lesabre vehicle. Recalled defective fuel pressure regulator. The manufacturer only reimbursed the consumer a small amount of the total repair expense.
