Two problems related to check engine light on have been reported for the 1999 Buick Park Avenue. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The vehicle would run rough, over heat and the engine check light would illuminate while driving 45-50 mph. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The dealer informed the consumer that the 3. 8l engine has blown a head gasket. The dealer made the repair.
Car stalls for no reason . When it stalls no check engine light comes on or messages indicateing what the failure was. The check engine light does appear before you start your vechicle but when car stalls the engine light does not come on. It is risk to be driving the vehicle and having the engine stall and not realizing it . It endangers the lives of the persons not only in the vehicle but others as well. Dealer has tried to repair several times but the the check engine light still does not illuminate. I believe that this is an engineering problem in which the vehicle was never programmed to illuminate the check engine light anyways.
