Got my car towed to midas on 12/15 because it wouldn't start. They said I needed a tune up and a new intake. They went to test my car and the engine caught fire. I received a call on 12/17 from midas saying that my engine caught fire and the intake specifically was under gm recall as it is a gm 3800 series ii engine. I was directed by midas to file a complaint about my issue, and that this work would be covered as it is part of a gm recall. My car won't start and I need to get it towed to a local dealership for the work to be done.
The contact owns a 2000 Buick Park Avenue. The contact was driving at approximately 30 mph when the vehicle completely shut off; all power steering and brakes failed as well. The contact shifted into neutral and pulled over. He restarted the vehicle and it functioned normally. The vehicle had not been repaired and the contact had not called the manufacturer at the time of the complaint. The VIN was unavailable. The current and failure mileages were approximately 80,000.
I have a 2000 Buick park Ave. . . . While driving down the road 70mph the car quits no warning. It might start right back up or it might take up to 1 1/2 hrs to start again. We have had it to the dealer and they are unable to figure out what is going on with it. This has been going on for several months now. If you have any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.
