Front Seat Heater/cooler problems of the 1998 Buick Regal

Two problems related to front seat heater/cooler have been reported for the 1998 Buick Regal. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Front Seat Heater/cooler problem

Failure Date: 07/02/2004

While driving at any speed consumer felt that the vehicle's seat was getting too warm. Consumer stopped at a rest stop to use the facilities and returned to the vehicle. Upon returning to the vehicle consumer noticed that the vehicle was filled with smoke. The consumer claimed that no one in the vehicle smoked. Consumer mentioned that there were heated seats in the vehicle that may have caused the fire. Vehicle was taken to the dealer who refused to help solve the problem. It was later determined that eh heat seat wiring malfunctioned and caused a small fire which left a hole in the seat about 6 inches in diameter.

2 Front Seat Heater/cooler problem

Failure Date: 05/24/2003

The passenger side seat (without the heat switch being turned on) got so hot it melted a plastic bag on the seat and got the bottom of the seat so hot it melted the foam under the leather and caused a brown burn mark in the middle of the grey leather seats.
