Front Suspension Stabilizer Bar problems of the 1998 Buick Regal

1 Front Suspension Stabilizer Bar problem

Failure Date: 06/21/2006

Front stabilizer bar has cracked. The front stabilizer bar on the drivers side has cracked at the exact transition point where the bar changes shape from a tube to a flat piece of metal. The crack is big enough to insert a business card into the crack. The crack proceeds to a depth of half of the material thickness.

2 Front Suspension Stabilizer Bar problem

Failure Date: 05/16/2006

An abnormal noise noted when driving, so took it in for inspection. Front stabilizer bar had cracked through and had to have it replaced - repair cost $319. 99. It seems this may be a common problem with this model Buick (3800v^) according to mechanic who has had several repairs of this nature in this small community. He feels this is occurring because the bar is hollow and not solid.
