Two problems related to brake fluid leak have been reported for the 1999 Buick Regal. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The contact owns a 1999 Buick Regal. The contact stated that the vehicle was unable to hold the brake fluid. Brake fluid leaked from underneath the body of the vehicle. The brakes failed to stop the vehicle properly. The brake pedal needed to be depressed in a pulse like manner in order to stop the vehicle properly. The brake pedal traveled to the floor ocassionally. The contact took the vehicle to a certified mechanic who stated that the brake line was rusted and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired and the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there were no recalls involving the brake lines. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
Complete brake failure 1999 Buick Regal. While leaving a car wash, experienced a total brake failure. Subsequent mechanical work determined the cause to be 2 severely corroded brake lines, one front and one rear brake line, both leaking brake fluid. . (this failure could have had catastrophic results as we were planning an 850 mile trip the next day in this car. ) mechanic said these brake lines were not stainless steel , did not appear to be protected by any coating, and "we see this corrosion on cars from the north". The car lived in chicago for its first 6 years.
