I bought my car from a used car lot. I had it about 3-4 months and out of the blue it overheated very quickly, the warning light was on, some type of loud buzzer was going off so I pulled over and let it cool off, it took about 45 minutes but it started back up. I checked all the fluids and coolant levels and everything was ok. This continued to happen for about 3 weeks, quickly overheat, lights, alarms pulled over, checked fluids over and over. After about 3 weeks it would quickly overheat and then shut off on its own and several times it happened so fast I barely got off the road. I took it to a mechanic that drove it around a little until it overheated which at this point only took about 3 minutes to happen. He said there was air in my radiator and he released it and it was fixed, I drove about 3 miles and it overheated again so I returned to the same mechanic and after about 6 minutes he came and told me it was a head gasket but they didn't repair those there so I called the next closest mechanic who looked at the car for about 3 minutes, stuck an air hose in the radiator and he said it was blowing out gas fumes from the radiator meaning I had a cracked head. I had to tow it 200 miles to my house, my wife drove it back and forth to work which was only 1 miles from home, she was able to do that for about a month and then the engine would start stalling at different times such as slowing to turn, pulling in to park, and some times it would stall while driving in busy 4 lane roads. Well, a little over a month went by with all these things happening all the time and finally one day she came home from work and started to pull in the parking spot and it shut off again, we had to push it into the spot but once it shut off that day it has never started since.
SUV was over heating , got two estamints and thy confirmed it is the head gaskets.
One day I was on my way to drop of the kids at daycare when the care suddenly turns off, I was going at least 60 mph;I was on the highway. Thank god nothing happened , I was able to pull over safely I waited for a while then maybe 15 min later it turns back on. I started to notice that the car started smelling, like gas, I took it to the mechanic, several times but they never could figure out what it was. After that incident it went down hill it started to heat up on me, wasted more gas, would turn off on me a lot and air/heat stopped working. I replaced the transmission because it started to slip, thinking that it will fix the problem and boy was I wrong. It was still doing the same, the smell was getting worse, I took it back to my mechanic. He told me that the head gasket needed to be replaced, I didn't have more money. He did't let me drive home, he was very worried because the smell of gas was so bad, he said that I should risk my kids and myself, the care can catch on fire. He had the truck towed to my house didn't charge me for it and I haven't moved it since then. . Ive put so much money in that truck, I kept up with the maintenance like clock work. I was just lucky that we never crashed we got close and we didn't blow up. I don't know weather I should take it in to a gm dealer to have them evaluate the truck to see if it is part of the recall.
Intermittent loss of power, loss of abs brakes and loss of awd. When you apply pressure to the gas pedal (accelerator) if you depress the pedal for what feels like over a 1/2 inch you lose power and the rpms go sky high and you can hear it trying to rev up. To get going you have to release the gas and press lightly. I loss power, esp. Going uphill since it needs more to go, but you can't give it more gas else it won't go. I and my fiancã© were almost hit in an intersection because of this loss of power. You can gain speed, but very slowly and anytime you depress the gas pedal further it again fails. Replaced three wheel bearings, all brakes, two calipers and the throttle position sensor. Nothing shows on the readout except for the front bearings aren't reading right, but they're brand new and have been re-checked for defect. Still that hasn't fixed the issue. Upon problem has actually been occurring for almost two months now.
The contact owns a 2005 Buick Rendezvous. The contact stated that the heat failed to operate without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the thermostat needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the head gasket needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,000.
Update: prior issues were due to bcm failure which that was my assumption based on numerous owner reviews. This part is a major safety issue if fails and Buick is aware and won't recall. These should last for the life of the vehicle. Occasionally one will go bad but shouldn't. The fact that many Rendezvous models face this issue of failure prematurely shows that it is a defective product! many have almost dies due to this failure. Car shutting off and lights going out while driving down highways/ expressways.
Pulling out of parking lot of a medical center off of rt. # 486 in lecanto, florida. . . Onto a side street. Car totally died. I could not move it. I could not steer. I could not start the car back up. I had to call for towing. Repair facility said it was the ignition switch. The same thing happened a few months earlier in lecanto, florida in a carwash. . . Could not move forward or backward. Called for a tow. The repair facility said it was a link assembly. I am very afraid this car will stop in the middle of a busy road and have a vehicle crash into the back of me. I can not find it on a recall list, but I see gm has recalled vehicles for faulty ignition switches which have caused fatalities. Ml.
Tl-the contact owns a 2005 Buick Rendezvous. The contact stated that while driving approximately 75 mph, there was a sudden loss on engine power as the electronic throttle control warning lamp illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure was unable to be diagnosed. The manufacture was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 97,000 and current mileage was approximately 102,000. The VIN was not available. Ml.
Have had to replace head caskets two times since I bought this now having problems with gas smell when I turn on heater whats next its got about 51000 miles on it.
The car stopped automatically at a stop light on a major hwy. I thought quickly and put it in neutral thank you jesus it started. I could have been rear ended. That is a major problem it does it periodically. I never know when its going to do it. . . I have replaced the wheel hub assembly on the rear 5 times and 2 on the front. . My gas gauge goes crazy or doesnt work at all. My speedometer has quit working and the other gauges work when they feel like it. It seems. I have had people check the vehicle out no one seems to know exactly what is wrong they say the cluster is out because of the gauges I dont have 900. 00 to fix it. I am always putting wheel hub assembly on it. That gets very expensive. .
The contact owns a 2005 Buick Rendezvous. While driving 35-65 mph, the engine suddenly shut off and all of the instrument panel lights illuminated. The failure occurred three times. The contact attempted to restart the vehicle. After the first failure, the contact took the vehicle to the dealer and they reprogrammed the computer. Four days later, the failure recurred. The contact called the dealer and they stated that additional work needed to be performed and they would call her. The failure has currently recurred for the third time and the contact is concerned that the vehicle may get rear ended. The failure mileage was 47,000 and current mileage was 48,000.
I write to report an occurrence of uncontrollable acceleration in a Buick Rendezvous. I rented the current model year Rendezvous from avis at lax airport on 5/14/05. That evening as I was accelerating to get on the freeway, the car accelerated uncontrollably. I immediately took my foot off the gas pedal, and put both feet on the brake, yet the car continued to accelerate. I noticed that even with both feet on the brake and pressing as hard as I could, the speed was increasing. Fortunately, at the on-ramp where I got on, the traffic was light, and there was approx a half mile where there was no traffic in my lane. I pulled to the right and was getting ready to turn the key off, since I could not otherwise slow the car down. After a total of 8 – 10 seconds, the throttle went back to its normal condition – ie the run away acceleration ceased. I spoke to the return agent at avis who assured me the car would be taken out of service. I write this note to make sure that avis knows what the problem was. I certainly could have caused an accident if there had been other cars near mine.
