2 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 Buick Verano

Failure Date: 09/30/2021

While driving home from work, my car, lost power a few times. Though, the maintenance malfunction light did come on, it was while the issue was occurring. I mention this because, in the car’s manual, it states that the light will come on before the malfunction takes place. I finally made it home, however, the car did continue to lose power while driving. The next morning I took the car to my mechanic, who experienced the same issues, then did a diagnostic test and found these results: p0011; cam position; rctisator bnk 1; timing over advance. Today while reading over all of the complaints, it is evident that this is a serious issue! this malfunction is extremely dangerous and can prove to be fatal, due to losing driving power/car cutting off while driving. I am surprised that this potentially fatal malfunction is not considered to be a recall. Please do what is right and set a recall ???? I also saw someone’s post that stated, there was a recall and free replacement on cars with the letters pp within the VIN#, we’re not be sold or leased in the us due to a federation violation and restricted code. Somehow, I was sold one of these unsafe and banned vehicles. How do those who fall into that same category rectify this problem? thank you for your help.

3 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2013 Buick Verano

Failure Date: 10/06/2020

On 10/6/2020, I was riding as the front passenger in our 2013 Buick Verano. We were traveling on the highway (70 mph) and hit a bump at the start of a bridge. A warning light illuminated, the engine rpm suddenly increased as if the transmission downshifted, the car decelerated and my wife pulled to the shoulder. We stopped, checked the gear shift and it was still in drive, the warning light disappeared, and everything seemed normal.

4 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2015 Buick Verano

Failure Date: 03/25/2020

Upon starting the car we have no working guages. The temperature and gas level don't work. And the following error messages show up on the dash. Service air bag, tire monitoring system, front camera, parking assist, side detection system, and theft deterrent system. The car it basically undriveable. The blinkers do not work, heated seats (though that is minor) radio stops working. We don't know what the temperature of the engine is, how much fuel we have and how fast we are going. There is only 68,800 miles on it. When I call the dealership (they're the only ones with the technology to look at this and troubleshoot) they tell me it's a few hundred dollars just to run diagnostics. This is ridiculous that the car is this unsafe to drive but I have to pay to diagnose it. Then I find out just to replace the side detection system will cost me like $700. I can't imagine what it would take to fix this bigger issue. I'm forced to pay to have diagnostics run at this point because I can't have my wife and daughter driving around in this vehicle when it's this unsafe. I also have a video I can upload if needed. But for now I took screenshots of the video and will upload them. What can be done on stuff like this? I appreciate your time, jason.

6 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2014 Buick Verano

Failure Date: 06/13/2019

Noticed car jerking and losing power while goin uphill. Going uphill slowed down to only go about 25mph. Came to not being able to drive forward at all only in reverse. Had car tested at 2 different auto places and was given possible codes of it being the transmission module. Unfortunately up to now haven't been able to afford to repair.

7 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2012 Buick Verano

Failure Date: 06/10/2019

Every since I first got car it has had problems. All the wires under the melted together and caused corrosion. Since then radio blinked on and off til now it's just a black screen. Had problems with cam shaft control. Have purchased 4 batteries in 6 years. There's something electrical that blows the batteries. If I start my car with automatic start from fob it causes battery problems. Check engine light is on now and I had it checked the code is for transmission control module. The car will be fine for a week or so but then while driving it changes gears and slows down as if it wants to stop. . It's very dangerous. Sometimes while putting the car in drive it will not accelerate even though I put my foot to the ground. Finally it will pick up speed. I'm not sure what's wrong with this car but I believe it's electrical and it's the same thing that caused the radios to go out. Sometimes the stability traction light will illuminate then it goes away for amonths. I'm afraid to drive my car. I've been on the highway doing 60 and it will switch gears and says speed is too fast for engine. . Please help!!!.

9 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2012 Buick Verano

Failure Date: 03/07/2019

I own a 2012 Buick Verano with only 48k on it, ownership transferred over from my father in law who bought this vehicle brand new. Car hesitates, does not pick up speed after slowing/stopping which we noticed at 36k, burns through a lot of oil- oil light does not go on when low, rear brakes and rotors were already compromised at less than 45k, and just recently lost brakes completely while driving a month ago due to a bad caliper. Car also accelerates sometimes when applying the brake. The brake light has never come on at any point during any of this, though the low windshield washer fluid light comes on even though it is not low. Also downshifts pretty rough.

10 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2012 Buick Verano

Failure Date: 10/25/2017

I was pulling into a parking spot and started hitting the brakes the car accelerated by itself and hit a pole. No my foot was no where near accelerator. This is the second time I have had this happen thank good the first time I didn't hit anything. I have done research online and I am not the only one this has happen to. I bought this car with 44,000 mile on it an it has been in the shop more then out. This defect almost killed me and my family, because I almost hit a wall.

11 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2014 Buick Verano

Failure Date: 10/25/2017

Purchased this vehicle January 2015. At this time I now have 73000 miles on it. While driving the wrench and lightening bolt flashes on and off really fast multiple times and the car began to jerk. It only lasts a few seconds but now it keeps doing it and im scared it will cause an accident. I took it to my local Buick dealership and they said no codes were found, but my battery test failed so I paid for a battery replacement. However the battery that was replaced was only a year old! even with the battery replaced it still happens and we cannot figure out why. What would cause a battery to fail in a years time? what would cause that specific light to flicker and the car began jerking. No codes are showing up on their system so they cannot figure out why it is happening. And of course it doesn't happen when they drive it for a bit, but it happens when I drive so they cannot see what it is doing.

12 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2014 Buick Verano

Failure Date: 03/02/2017

The contact owned a 2014 Buick Verano. While attempting to place the vehicle in reverse, the brake pedal was depressed, but failed to respond. As a result, the vehicle independently accelerated and caused both a front and rear end collision. The air bags failed to deploy. The vehicle was towed to an insurance lot and then later towed to an independent mechanic. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 400.

13 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2014 Buick Verano

Failure Date: 10/01/2016

The contact owns a 2014 Buick Verano. When accelerating, the vehicle hesitated to respond. The failure occurred without warning. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 32,000.

14 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2012 Buick Verano

Failure Date: 08/11/2016

I was at a stop sign and when it was my turn to go I started to drive and realized my car was not accelerating, I had the gas peddle all the way to the floor as a tractor trailer was fastly approaching my rear bumper, luckly I was able to coast to median. Took to dealer and they said there was a switch that needed to be replaced. My entire dashboard lights and radio went out, which dealership had to replace twice. My car shut off while pulling into a parking spot, it was raining and defrost was not working, took to dealership which they stated it was my battery, paid $200 for a new battery. My car jerks and stalls when I am going from a complete stop and begin to pick up speed. I was backing out a parking spot today and my car shut off and the check engine light came on, I restarted my car which the check engine light remains on and the stalling and jerking continues. These issues can cause a major accident and if severe enought can be life threatening. If I am required to hold up my end of the bargain by paying my car note the manufacturers need to be held accountable for their end of the bargain which is providing their buyers with a secure and reliable vehicles for families.

15 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2012 Buick Verano

Failure Date: 09/25/2014

I was driving an had to stop or slow down when I go to accelerate again my car cuts off. I sit there and turn key to turn back on it does but if I don't push down on gas to accelerate quickly it will stall again for the last five days it has done this several times. I called on star to hear what the problem could be but they informed me that I could still drive my car but see a dealer soon. I live quite a distance from my job so I need a car to go to work. I have missed some days because cutting off on 95 south is not fun and can't be speeding on expressway either on I will get a ticket. Please let someone from gm check for this problem in other cars. I am at dealer now praying this issue can be resolved. Thanks.

16 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2012 Buick Verano

Failure Date: 10/18/2012

While driving at 65 mph in the right lane of a 4-lane divided highway, my engine quit, and all gauges went dark. I had steering, brakes, turn signal and hazard lights, and telephone. I was losing speed, and was unable to accelerate. However, I was able to coast to the shoulder of the highway. I was not able to restart the car. I put on the hazard lights and used my cell phone to call the dealer. After 10 - 15 minutes of waiting, I was able to restart the car. A representative from the dealer had just arrived and followed me to the dealership. They kept the car overnight. They could not duplicate the episode, so they reset the computer. I am suspicious that the computer activated the engine immobilizer feature. The engine stall was preceded by several instances of the intellilink screen going dark, as though the light bulb had burned out.
