My 2016 Cadillac Ats coupe has a serious repeating safety defect. The vehicle violently shakes, vibrates, and becomes unstable while driving. This happened twice. Both times the rear bolts came out except one. Both mechanics who inspected it said they have never seen this before. The first time, I paid $4,000 out of pocket at another shop. The problem happened again, proving this is a manufacturing defect. My axp diagnostic on November 4, 2025 confirms major rear differential/axle issues. The vehicle is unsafe and undrivable. One mechanic told me do not drive it. Cadillac told me the opposite — “safe to pick up” — even though they did no real diagnostic. Cadillac refused to give anything in writing, refused a loaner, and ignored multiple emails. A Cadillac representative told me they reviewed the previous calls, meaning they know the full history. They still refused to fix the dangerous defect. I have paid over $33k, paid $4k for the first repair, still owe $7k, and Cadillac now wants another $7k for the same issue. This is a major safety risk to me and other drivers.
My ball joints on both sides were completely gone, my struts have given out repaired all at the same time, because of those things going out it completely ruined my tires to where they squeak down the road. Both differentials are leaking and my transmission shutters, I also had to replace my water pump that was leaking cooling everywhere.
When operating my vehicle into drive many times when turning the front wheels the car loose it power and stalls. This can be very dangerous when turning vehicle into other cross sections or smiply turning. Please look into this before something serious happenhis. This incident occurs when stationary or moving forward slowly. I was moving forward out of my driveway and into on going traffic. Luckly I was able to bagback into driveway .
We bought a used 2016 Ats with 14,000 miles. Within 2 years, we have had 4 cracked Cadillac wheels. We also have run flat tires, factory installed. Driving under normal conditions, pot holes and seams in asphalt seem to be what caused of cracked rims. I suspected a defective issue after 2nd cracked wheel. I asked at local dealership about a recall and they said they didn't see one. I see a number of complaints online and finally found a complaint through carcomplaints. Com that was noted on NHTSA. This is a known issue, factory defect at cannon Cadillac in lakeland, FL. If driven on run flats approx 15 miles to repair facility, tires can also be damaged and have to be replaced which was my situation. My last wheel purchased lasted me 1 yr, 3 weeks and cracked because of seam in asphalt on the freeway. This needs to be a recall. I now have 35k miles and I'm looking at the expense of replacing all 4 wheels due to Cadillac standing behind this defective wheel.
All 4 rims are cracking and causing air to leak from the tires. Cannon Cadillac in lakeland FL. , has stated these rims are a factory defect, but have denied the claim to replace all the rims with an active 2 year warranty still in effect. I only noticed this problem once I had just purchased a new tire and seen that the air pressure was low on the tire. Once I took my car to the tire shop, the tire techs informed me the rims where defective, at that moment I made a appointment at cannon Cadillac. The problem is still not resolved.
Cadillac Ats 2014 - wheels/tire rims - I purchased the car in 2014 with michelin run-flat low profile tires. As of today, November 16, 2018, I have replaced 22 tires, due to the tire itself separating from the tire rim. In several cases the car did not indicate on the display panel this problem existed. The benefit of these tires is to allow you to ride on them for approximately 40-45 miles. The problem is the car does not always indicate the issue on the dashboard display and you don't know how long you were already driving with the issue. Also, on occasion the display shows psi zero when it first alerts you to the problem, which required me to be towed after waiting on the side of the road for over an hour. While waiting for the tow truck, causing danger to myself and other drivers on the road. When I addressed this with the dealer, they indicated the car does not register a tire issue unless the inner lining of the tire is ripped. When driving I am constantly weaving to prevent any size pot hole to prevent another tire episode. This also causes a dangerous situations. The tire and/or tire rims should be investigated, to prevent any future hazardous driving situations for myself and others. I have pictures of a few of the tire rubber separated from the tire rim, and also have all the receipts for the (21) tire replacements and towing receipts if needed. Incidents have happened in NY, NJ and PA, the car was in motion when the car display would indicated a problem, however, in several of the incidents I saw that the tire was separated from the tire rim, yet the car display did not indicate an issue. Takata recall. There was never a notice sent out about the recall. Rear wheel broke at the spokes which cause for the car to go into a spin out. Driver curtain airbag deployed but not inflated like the passenger side. Seat belt did not hold me in securely, it was loose.
2 sets of brand new micihlen tires were mounted onto my vehicle old tires were still in good shape but I was getting a rubbing sound from the tires after having the tires replace I'm still getting the same issue this sounds is more noticeable at a acceleration speed. (brakes are good) also with the lane departure it will go off at random times when I'm no where knew going over the street lines. . .

From 3/2013 to 3/2019 a 3 year period I have replaced all tires 3 times due to irregular wear inside, now experiencing roaring noise from read wheel. Tires were continually rotated during regular services with the rear passenger tire light illuminated showing low pressure low, dealer was advised on each occurrence prior to receiving service . The transmission shift cable disengaged on 8/31/2018 the dealer charged me for repairs when this was part of a recall prior to my owning the car, and was not available to me at the time of purchase carfax did not disclose.
Medium size bulge ( about 2") on sidewall next to rim of passenger side front tire. Michelin primacy mxm4 tire size 225/40r/18. Noticed when vehicle parked and I was washing rims.
3 rims/wheels bent under normal driving conditions under 11,000 miles from new, due to poor quality and improper design, causing a vibration in the vehicle.
I called the dealership (katherine cole who sold us the run flat tires), tweeted gm. No one at this point has been the least bit interested in what I had I to say. After my crash, on August 11, 2014, I have found several other Ats owners that experience the same exact issue. . My daughter and I suffered terrible injuries, crash and totaled my car. I also am finding that there maybe a tire issue because of fast wear after only 7,000 miles. What, is gm or the tire manufacture or these safety org. Waiting for someone to die? I sent in a complaint in about my 2014 Cadillac Ats causing me to have a near fatal car accident. Gm is claiming that the tires were worn and speed caused the accident, which is false. My car only had 7500 miles ( car was purchased with only 256 miles) and the tires were not worn! the car was just in for service for it’s premium care lease maintenance, the service advisor would have mentioned that at time! the speed was caused from the accident. My daughters abdomen was injured from the seat belt too! between gm and michelin tires I am getting no where, they are pointing the finger to each other when I voted for you I thought you would fight for michiganders! how would you feel if I were your family member. I have been four surgeries and at least two more, please rethink your decision please help me.
I have 2014 Ats Cadillac 4. 0 t ( with run flat tires). . When it rains while I'm driving at speed over 35 mph or higher my vehicle will hydroplane but will jump right back because of the stabilitrak stability control system. This was the most terrifying thing to experience. I had to pull over and get myself together. I called my husband to inform him of the issue, which he later experienced the same freighting ordeal. No matter what driving mode the car performs worse in the rain. I like in michigan and if my car acts like in the rain I'm terrified and will not drive my car in the snow too. I refuse to drive in the rain. . . . I am truly scared for my life.
