My engine rpm would randomly lock to 4000 rpms while driving, I could rev the car or apply the brakes but it will sit their until it decides to respond. This has happened a few times and mostly down hill and flats. Difficult to replicate. Cooling system has been a plague at around 80k miles I've had to replace a clamp at the back near the water outlet flange which I was quoted $2000 for just the labor alone as the engine would need to be removed. And the water pump failed at around 82000 miles. Also plagued with p06de "engine oil pressure control circuit stuck on" error code a few times now.

My air bag light randomly appeared and has been on for at about year now the dealership wants me to pay a ridiculous amount of money for all of these safety hazards including to fix my “airbag sensor” when I have never used the airbags. I am the one and only owner of the car which I purchased directly from the ed morse bayview Cadillac dealership. Faulty airbags and or sensors are a huge safety hazard. I need to know my airbags are working correctly as well as the sensors not only for my safety but as well as my child. My car has recently been diagnosed with serious transmission problems which include a vibration at 50 mph shuddering erratically and frequently to the point it is scary to drive. The transmission going out could cause me to get into an accident or be stuck in the road and put into danger which is another safety hazard. Lastly, the electric cue screen is supposed to be used for safety for many reasons which include hands-free directions when you are lost and can use gps without having to use your phone while driving. You need the cue screen to be able to access the radio for alerts and warnings. You need the cue screen to able to use your phone hands-free to prevent accidents. The cue screen is defective. The screens they use cannot withstand the heat and they sell you the car knowing the screens don’t last and will crack and no longer have the touch screen ability to control or use any of the features for our safety.
Transmission drags. When stopping the car jerks bad and sometimes proceeds to accelerate. When at a stop auto start has a hard jerk I reported this problem to Cadillac dealership when I first got the car. They claim they couldn't find an issue. The touch pad goes out frequently.

The contact owns a 2013 Cadillac Ats. The contact stated while stopped at a traffic light or as the she slows to approximately 15 mph, the vehicle begins to tremble or idle roughly. The contact stated that “check engine,” “drivers assist” and the “ac off” warning light were illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle power seemed reduced and the vehicle would hesitate when she depressed the accelerator. Additionally, the power steering would fail. The contact reached her destination and upon restarting the vehicle the power steering had returned. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer who diagnosed that the thermostat needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. However, the failures had become recurring. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 52,000.
While arriving at stop lights the caddillac roughly shifts down jolting the whole vehicle. Around 1500 rpms whether its sitting or just passing 1500 rpms the whole vehicle shutters and vibrates aggresively until around 2000 rpm. Rpms jump up and down between 1000 and 3000 rpms.
When I was driving on the highway my car started to move like it was going to quit on me, I get my car serviced frequently and have replaced the sparkplugs and coil, changed all the gaskets, and I almost got into an accident because the stabilititrack light came on and car did not want to work as it should. This is the second time this has happened.
The engine stopped itself when I was at a complete stop at a traffic signal. After a few minutes I was able to start the engine again. It did this three times in the space of an hour. Always at a complete stop.

Tl the contact owed a 2014 Cadillac Ats. The contact stated that while his girlfriend was driving 55 mph and he was sitting in the front passenger seat, smoke was seen coming from the hood. The contact stated that no warning lights were illuminated. The driver was able to pull over to the side of the road, the vehicle occupants were able to exit the vehicle safely before the vehicle was engulfed in flames. The fire department was called and extinguished the fire. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a total lot as it was destroyed by the fire. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The manufacture was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 68,500.
54,189 miles on car currently. Since June of 2019 my car/engine will completely shut off at a red light, or a coming to a stop sign (basically completely stopped or coming to a stop). Its even shut off while in reverse. When this happens, the gear is still in drive. So I then have to put the car in park,press the brake and start it again. It sputters to start again, but it starts. Its getting more frequent, with it stopping up to 3 times at one stop light, and then having to restart it again. There are no codes on the dash. Ive brought my car into crest Cadillac multiple times to try and diagnose this issue. They cannot find the root cause, and it still happening most recently today! there is a new battery, alternator testing in good condition. They have tested the battery cables/lines. This is incredibly frustrating. My car has stopped on me when trying to accelerate and turn into a lane and I was almost hit bc my engine completely shut off. I also called gm and was told without a diagnosis they cant help. Ive spent so much money on diagnostic tests with no answers. I need help please.
Car won't drive past 40mph without serious shaking and vibrations. Have had the car towed multiple times and had multiple things fixed with the vehicle but still have major can't drive the car past 40mph. Last estimate dealer said it was the transmission. 4-5k to repair. Cadillac told me it was the coil rods which they replaced. Brought it back and I was told it was a pipe that was cracked going to the engine. Still have same problem. Had the tires and alignment checked. They said it was transmission. Brought to another place they thought it might be the engine. Issue are on the highway with speeds over 40mph.

The vehicle was test driven, but the cause of the failure could not be determined and the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 66,400.
There was a shudder to the vehicle while in motion and it lurches forward like it skips gears when going from reverse into drive and often from increase speed.
Several times when slowing down or coming to a complete stop at a red light or stop sign the vehicle shudders and shut off have to restart it I've almost been hit a few times the major problem I'd like to have a low idle or something I don't understand.
My vehicle always missing or act like it going to turn off or some time it turn off. It vibrates when you take off. Then it stops but when you come to a stop again it does the same thing everytime. And everytime I take it to the shop they always tell me something different to cost me more money. This car is a lemon!!!!!!!!!!! major problems it stays in the shop. I can fax you or give you the dealership number so you can get all the times it been in the shop and all the problems.

Afraid to drive my vehicle. I took the vehicle in under warranty because the car lost power on the off ramp from the highway. The air conditioning shut off, and I then noticed nothing on the car was working, brakes, steering, engine!! the dealer could not duplicate the issue. This past Friday it happened again at rush hour and my wife almost got into a serious accident. I am now out of warranty and have a car I am afraid to drive. I have found some other posts of this issue, but no resolution. This should be a recall for safety and if they cannot fix, the car should be replaced.
0n more than five occasions the vehicle has accelerated when coming to a stop. I've had to hit the brakes and shift into neutral to get the rpm's back to normal. The last 2 times my wife has been with me in the car ,she now refuses to ride in the car. I've had the car in for repairs three time specifically for that problem. The car will run fine for a short time then all of a sudden the same old problem of accelerating when slowing down or coming to a stop. I do not feel safe in this vehicle and would like the lease terminated a. S. A. P.

Driving on 71 in columbus OH to mansfield OH going 70 mph on highway and at ex 173 started snowing heavy, traffic came to hault at 10 mph, had . 09 miles to exit, got to exit made a right off exit started up a hill in snow at 30 mph and before making it up the hill the car stopped in middle of one lane rd. And display said . . . No power steering. . . Called 911 three times, waited outside in snow for hr and half for them to tow car to bill harris auto 419-289-2000 in ashland OH five mi down rd. Next day they couldnt duplicate the problem so they couldnt fix it. I told them I dont feel safe in car and that I could have died if going any faster, it stopped without any warning. He said he would give me $10 thous towards another vehicle when car is worth $20,500. In my excellent shape. Engine idles roughly. I have only used premium gas during fillups. The dealership says it's because I'm not using top tier gas, which is ridiculous. How can an engine's fuel system be that sensitive because one gas is missing some detergents per count in comparison. My ecm needs to be reprogrammed to compensate for this. It seemed to start shaking after I got it back from the dealership that corrected a recall problem that dealt with airbag deployment. How do you push an ignorant manager to take care of this instead of blaming it on the gas?.
Upper and lower control arm bushings steering knuckle defective from factory and blown piston number 1 at 6350 miles and many recalls.
Tl the contact owns a 2013 Cadillac Ats. The contact stated that there were several progressing failures within months of owning the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to several independent mechanics who diagnosed that the intake O2 sensor may be the cause of the failures, but no data was found. The contact stated that there were electrical failures, the tpms warning indicator kept illuminating, the vehicle was idling roughly, and there was a leak in the rear axle. In addition, an independent mechanic stated that there was a misfire on cylinder three. The dealer (peninsula Chevrolet, 4 heitzinger plaza, seaside, CA 93955, (831) 275-0933) diagnosed that there was a low rate of pressure in cylinder four. The manufacturer had been notified for months and was unable to provide a permanent solution. The manufacturer opted to refuse a buy back or trade in. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.
Piston failure 2013 Ats required motor replacement.
My wife was driving to her parents house going up a incline and the vehicle couldn't pull the hill slowed down to approx. 20mph bumped and shook as it went up the hill. When she got out of the car at her parents house you could smell something like burnt transmission or something. This has happened on two other occasions and the 1st instance Cadillac dealer said the computer to the transmission dumped its program and they went in and reprogramed the transmission but it still does the same thing. I will be taking it back in after christmas. Hydroplaning is also a huge problem with this car. This car also doesn't like to stayi n a lane at highway speeds. I feel this car isn't safe to drive and will be looking for an attorney to deam it as a lemon.
My new Cadillac with only 6700 miles on it had to have a brand new engine put it because of bad pistons. This is a very common thing for Cadillac Ats models. If you go on the Cadillac forums website, you will see many other Cadillac owners having the same problem.
Transmission issues. Rattling under the chassis that sounds like someone grabs the drive shaft and shakes it when the clutch is pushed at slow speeds ie moving up at a stop sign, in traffic etc. Defective dual mass flywheel was found after the service department told me my claims were up to factory standards. After taking apart the transmission (at less that 10k miles) gears 1-4 were found to be defective as well. The vehicle still has shifting issues and a loud rattle. I road tested a 2015 manual Ats and it drove smooth with no rattles. I was told the 2015 would drive the same once it hit 10k miles like mine which is a ridiculous statement. Vehicle has also shut off while in traffic, and upon restarting the vehicle I no longer had an power steering. I do not feel safe in this vehicle for myself or my children. There are many reports of issues with the 2013-2014 manual Ats and records of gm buy backs. The service manager agrees there is an issue with the vehicle and recommended I call gm to initiate a buy back. But the service department insists this is factory standard and refuses to address the issues.
Since June 2013, the Cadillac Ats has been making a vibration feeling. The vibration is unknown, it has been to service twice. First I was suggested to try a different gas (premium gas). The problem continued to occur, so I switched back to regular gas. Then received a recall letter about the transmission shift and that problem was fixed. But I also asked service to drive vehicle around while in the shop to figure out the occurring vibration issue. Service told me all the Cadillac Ats's cars do the same thing and that thats how they were manufactured, but the problem continues. I don't want to insert a different gas type if the car is suppose to take regular unleaded. (I bought car because it is gas saver). As a customer I shouldn't have to change the gas and spend more than I already am monthly if the car is not running properly. Nor should I have to keep taking it in for recalls and paying for a car ($552 per month) if it was not manufactured correctly in the first place. I have the right to exchange my defected vehicle at the cost of general motors.
I bought this car new on 1/16/14. On 2/19/14 the engine light came on and the engine lost power. I took it to the dealer and they replaced a sensor assembly. On 3/18/14 the same thing happened and the car lost power. The mileage was about 1,500. . Now I am being told that there is a problem that the engineers at gm are looking into but no fix is in sight. . The first two times I lost power I was in town but if this happened on the highway it could be a real problem. I feel gm has a major problem and they do not want to be honest. I am being told nothing other then they are working on the problem.
I was pulling in to a parking spot behind a car at a very low speed when I pressed the brakes for the car to stop, instead it accelerated and smashed in to a car in front of me. I tried pressing the brakes harder in order to avoid the impact and the car did not respond.
Vehicle turns off when in neutral approaching to stop. This is not from improper foot work on the clutch. The vehicle is in neutral. It has happened over 13 times since vehicle purchased on 7/26/2013 (first incident on date of purchase). The vehicle will turn on immediately after. It has been to the dealership three times and twice they kept it for a week. The problem did not duplicate with the dealership. On the third visit they replaced the engine control module. Five days after picking it up after they replaced the engine control module the problem happened again. This is very dangerous as it has happened at busy intersections and it is a safety concern.
Right turn from stop onto major 6-lane highway; no power to engine after engagement of accelerator; acted as though not in-drive gear; tachometer reved past 6k; foot off of pedal; transmission engaged; very slow return to normal operation; evasive action by other drivers following; no replication by dealer after 4-days of testing; returned vehicle to owner without explanation of problem.
