Ten problems related to front suspension have been reported for the 1997 Cadillac Catera. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Front end alignment problems causing excessive wear of the tire edges.
Excessive wear of tires due to poor alignment from manufacturer. Manufacturer is aware of problem , nothing is being done to correct it. Steel belts were showing through, and could cause greater damage. The manufacturer's service representative acknowledges that the vehicle had engineering design flaw.
Loss of steering control/hydroplaning on wet roads, consumer believes this problem has caused excessive wear to tires.
Improper front end alignment setting on vehicle caused tires to wear on the inner shoulder.
When coming to a stop and turning the wheel, the vehicle pulls to the right. The dealer has been notified.
While driving steering wheel had to be steered to the left to avoid vehicle from going automatically to the right. Took vehicle to the dealer, and dealer determined that something in the front end was bent.
Would be driving and tires would feelunevenly. All tires were wearing out excessively. Was having trouble with alignment. Had taken vehicle to dealership, and twice to an independent mechanic. Also, had other problems with vehicle.
Front end alignment and suspension problem caused extremely premature wear of the tires (flat spots and cupping) and vibrations which at times are violent. Nlm.
Goodyear tires were replaced many times due to the premature wear caused by the alignment which also caused vibration, vehicle was sold to the customer with tires that had no tread.
Constantly out of alignment. Steering pulls left, now notified on 1/1o/200 that "tires are bad" due to car being out of alignment ! dealer manager contacted. States he has no power to replace tires or to guarantee I will not be charged excessive wear at lease termination in 4 monthsmg acted and.
