Front Air Bag Sensor Control problems of the 2003 Cadillac CTS

Passenger seat belt (female) assembly using a takata initiator (cylinder alongside the seat) for airbag deployment sensor failure. Dealer says parts in no longer made, no one makes aftermarket parts for the srs, therefore no repair can be made and jeopardizes safety and omits the purpose of an srs.

Tl- the contact owns a 2003 Cadillac Cts. The contact stated that air bag sensor light had illuminated and the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the air bag module was faulty and needed to be replaced. The module was replaced and the failure was remedied. The contact also indicated that while driving approximate 3 mph the vehicle suddenly shut off due to the key fob making contact with the drivers knee. The contact was able to coast the vehicle to the side of the road and restarted the engine and the vehicle operated as normal. The contact indicated that the failure occurred after the recall remedy for NHTSA campaign number 14v394000(electrical) was completed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 28,000. Jft.

The vehicle had the old air bag sensor. The consumer would like to receive the new sensor that was placed in other vehicles due to a recall. The dealer has stated no repairs will be done until there is a recall issued for that vehicle.
