1 Car Will Not Accelerate problem

Failure Date: 08/04/2014

Tl- the contact owns a 2005 Cadillac Cts. The contact stated that the transmission felt as if the vehicle jerked backward and the vehicle would not accelerate upon pressing the acceleration pedal. The contact mentioned that when the failure occured the vehicle was turned off and back on to reset the computer. The failure recurred again and the vehicle was towed to a repair shop who diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired by that repair shop. The contact also stated that the key was getting stuck in the on position several times and the failure progressed with no warning in which the radio failed, the windows went up and down. The key was difficult to remove and hard to turn over to start the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer who diagnosed that the transmission and the ignition switch needed to be replaced. The contact had the ignition switch replaced. The contact was also included in NHTSA campaign id number: 14v394000 (electrical system) but did not receive a notification of the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 119,000. Dyd.
