general problems of the 2008 Cadillac CTS

I haven't had a problem with my car and my truck. But my main concern is the led and laser headlights almost every new car and truck that comes equipped with them. Even the aftermarket replacement bulbs and light assemblies, they are way too bright at night. Blindly bright. I have to put my hand in front of my eyes and face to reduce the amount of glare. I feel like these headlights can be a safety hazard to drivers at night.

Shortly after, a gentleman driving behind me alerted me that sparks and fire were falling from beneath the car. I immediately pulled over, just before the engine burst into flames. The columbus police department responded to the scene and had to extinguish the fire. This incident occurred within minutes of purchasing the vehicle, despite the supposed 30-day warranty covering the transmission and engine. I was driving down the road going bout 29 miles per hour when I heard a big boom. It sounded nd felt like I had hit something . So I slowed down and pulled over to the side of the road put the car in park looked underneath nothing was there . I then preceeded to my at. Which thank god was only another block away . I started going only going maybe 5 miles per hour at this point because it sounds like I'm dragging like metals on the ground . When I got to my apt. I went to park the car when I went to put it into park it would not go when I went to reverse it would nit go it still went into drive and thts it and even getting it into driveyou really had to push it and it felt like the tires were going to wobble off , I mean bye this time it just felt like the car was gonna fall apart shaking abd wobbling all over because I kept trying g to go from drive to neutral to get it to go into park but it didn't budge I had to leave it in neutral and put on the emergency break and shut the car off leaving my key I side cause it ws stuck due to the car not going into park. When I came out of my apt. I ws just frazzled I didn't understand wht ws going on she hd been running beautifully. But I did remember when I first test drove her I had told the sales man she had felt like I ws pulling something she ws kinda hesitant to excelerate . He assured me she's had a 5 star inspection and the whole cars under warranty nd he works on Cadillacs himself . Yada yada yada. I had called. Friend to come help me tow her home . He tried to get her to manually go into drive but it still wouldn't budge he thought maybe the shift link u til we got her home it was the drive shaft it had sheered off all the bolt one half was on the one part the other part of the bolt were broke off where it connected to the tyranny. He said you can't replace this with out trying to back our the bolts but there metric bolts and would be hard to find . And I would just be better off with a new driveshaft.

Driving in a 45 degree morning on smooth road, no over head items, the sun roof glass panel exploded into pieces, raining glass throughout the car. I was driving straight on a township road, weather was pristine. The sunroof was something I rarely use, and not engaged in months. There was no bumps, nothing was struck, nothing hit the car or roof. There was no explanation for why this occurred, and no antecedent problems with the sunroof or its prior (albeit remote) function. I have pictures but unable to load them onto the file at this time. .

This vehicle has been leaking water and nobody knows where the leak is coming from. Whenever it rains, there is a pool of water on both the driver's floor mat and the passenger's floor mat on the driver's side. You can also witness water coming down from the rearview mirror. Also, the driver's seat has sunk in and is no longer operational. I have called Cadillac motor company regarding these defects and all that I was told is that the vehicle is out of warranty. I tried to explain to them that this problem is a common occurrence with Cadillac vehicles because I experienced the same issue with my Cadillac eldorado. The problem with my Cadillac eldorado was so bad that I had to get rid of it. I bought the 2008 Cadillac Cts and after many years, I started having the same problem. The water leaking issue and malfunction of the driver's seat can pose a deadly risk to the driver. If the issue that I am having now is the same issue that I had with my eldorado, then, there is a problem with the design of these vehicles. Cadillac must be asked to look into these issues and have them corrected before it is too late for the unfortunate drivers like me.

The car only has 35000 miles on it. The engine misfires constantly when giving gas especially if your going up hill and there is more load on the vehicle. After I had $5000 worth of work to fix the problem at a Cadillac dealership. They couldn't fix the issue so they came back and said that we needed a new engine. We told them over and over again that we don't think it's the engine but they guaranteed us the new engine would fix the problem. So another $5000 later and still not fixed. The vehicle idles fine, it only happens while driving. The check engine light eventually comes on indicating misfires in 2 cylinders.

Finish up on previous complaint concerning front door latches on 2008 Cadillac Cts4 that will not allow front doors to open from the outer latches setting up a dangerous situation in case of accident or fire. The dealer that diagnosed the problem didn't seem to take it to serious, a mere $1800. 00 should fix it. Hope you people realize the possible danger involved here. Thanks.

My sensors all came up, saying they were bad, I replaced them and the check. Engine light is still on. I was told its my timing chain and that the recall just expired. I never received a notice of a recall or I would have had it done before it expired. I was driving on the highway and all of a sudden its bogging down and lagging when pushing the gas and the check engine light came on.

The moon roof leaking water into the cab as well as holding water in the trunk door causing excessive mold build up the vehicle sits over night in the rain and fills up with water.

The vehicle will stall while cruising to a stop light, while at idle and sometime while accelerating. I've read a lot of posts online about this issue but no one has a solution. I got stranded on the highway in the middle lane once too. Gm will not do anything about it. The vehicle is in the shop right now and my diagnosis fee its over $750 and there is still no resolution for this issue!!! this issue is an ongoing issue for years now!!!.

Randomly when I go to start my vehicle it won't start but the battery is good,which leaves me stranded . . . . And also randomly while driving the traction control lights up saying traction control off along with every light in the dash displayed and making the chiming sound. It reduces the engine power suddenly while at a high speed causing me to swerve in freeway traffic.

Code p0430 cam or crank shaft position censor. Timing chain issue caused by manufacture defection. Rear driver side passenger seat belt not working properly. And leaking moon roof.

The d/s door will not unlock or open from the outside. Read numerous complaints on same issue and no recall issued.

Takata recall: my service air bag light keeps coming and off. Also my tire gage ,keeps flashing after my air levels has been check. It will not go off on its on.

Intermittently, the door locks do not lock/unlock with the remote. The safety concern is ingress/egress from the vehicle.

Car w/ 95,000 miles. Problems at 15,000 miles. Airbag sensors faulty. "ecm" (engine control module) replaced but no issues with how the car was running. Told by the dealership "alot" of ecm's are replaced. Is ecm failure common in this vehicle or is it the dealership replacing ecm's that do not need repair to make money? ecm was a $1,000. 00 repair to fix a gas smell from the car. New ecm and gas smell is still there. Then told now faulty fuel pump and leak in the fuel line as reason for gas smell. Both dealer and gm have refused refund for replacing ecm that did not have to be replaced. Replacing ecm did not fix the gas smell! prior to "ecm " all six of the oxygen sensors also replaced. Another costly repair. I have pampered this vehicle since I have purchased it from factory. Very suspicious so many issues needing repair have occurred with this car. Now, ignition switch is being recalled and will need repair. I am left driving my family around in a potentially dangerous car. Will my family be the next victim of a faulty gm ignition switch? also the door locks in the rear of the car are faulty ever since I have had the car. The rear door locks jam and the doors won't open from the outside. The dealer in the first three months replaced one rear door lock mechanism. Before I realized my warranty expired the other rear door lock also had the same problem. Gm refuses to fix it. Now an expense of > $400. Having an infant who rides in the back this is concerning that rear door lock jams. Repairs on this 2008 Cadillac Cts are endless and should not have to be so numerous considering I have been the single owner of this vehicle and have kept the vehicle very well maintained. I would like to know if other owners of this make and model of vehicle have had similar problems? is there a manufacturing issue??.

I found a bolt laying in my driveway under the car. When I got in to drive it made a terrible noise as though something was loose. I took it to dealer and they said a bolt fell out of the driveshaft and the driveshaft needs replaced at a cost of approx. $900. I called gm to find out why a bolt would just fall out and why the driveshaft would need replaced with less than 38k miles and they could not answer me. They did agree to work with dealer and get my cost down to $400, however, I don't think I should have to pay anything since this sounds like a design flaw. I have never owned a car where bolts just fall off for no reason and I've had 10 year old cars with more than 100,000 miles on them. Gm did not seem too interested in discussing the problem and said I should talk to the dealer. The dealer, of course had no answers since they did not manufacture the vehicle.

Total drainage of power battery drained everything comes on but the ignition has no power.

Trunk lid will not open with remote device or by depressing the drivers door trunk release. You can hear the trunk latch engaging but will not release. Attempted to open via the back seat pass thru by pulling on the emergency trunk release handle and this failed as well.

D/s door lock will not open outside with remote control or handle. Must use key. Have research and found numerous complaints regarding this issue and no recall was established.

There is a water leak occurring from the sunroof. The sunroof drains continuously get clogged. In result, the interior of the car gets extremely wet. This occurred on September 21, 2011 then has now happened in the same exact drain on may 05, 2015. When I started the car after discovering the water for the second time the passenger rear window rolled down on its own and will no longer operate. Who knows what other electrical issues will occur? does this put me at harm? also, now with all the moisture inside the car, this is ruining the interior of my car! the worst part is that due to the moisture in the vehicle the inside of the windows fog up while driving. This is definitely putting me and other drivers on the road in harms way because it is interrupting my visibility while driving and I don't feel safe when this occurs. I don't understand how the drains are getting clogged, I don't park under trees and my car is covered almost year round. This is not acceptable and I feel like there needs to be change.

Shortly after the purchase of the vehicle it started shutting off while in motion. This happens unexpectedly, and mostly when slowing down for a stop light or to reduce speed. This is an on going issue, which have been reported to general motors, who informed us to take it a number of dealerships on several occasions, but all services performed has proven futile. My family has had many close death experiences because of this problem, but general motors refuses to address the matter in depth. I have contacted several law firms for assistance, but all refuse to help because no one has been injured or died as a result problem. As a disabled veteran I'm very worried about this issue because I can't afford to replace this vehicle at this time due to my injuries.

Car sometimes doesnt recognize both electronic key-fobs preventing me from unlocking/locking & starting the car because. Problem recurs periodically. Replaced battery but problem keeps happening. Dealer says they cant duplicate problem.

Car sometimes doesn't recognize electronic keyfob preventing me from locking the ignition prior to exiting the car. Leaving the car with the ignition unlock is a violation of many states' motor vehicle laws. Other times car will not let me enter the car or start the car because it doesn't recognize the electronic keyfob. Problem recurs periodically - sometimes a few times a week other time operates fine for a month or more.
