The car constantly makes a noise. Even when it's parked you can still smell gas. It jerks all the time. Been having problem with it since day one I got it.
My 2009 has 112,000 miles on it. Over a period of time we started to smell gasoline . Thought it may be simply from putting gas in the car. The smell got stronger. Fortunately we had to have a tire replaced. The tire service owner advised we had a major gas leak and advised us not to drive it far. End result was we had a fuel feed pipe that was leaking. Please know we had been driving our 4 year old nephew and 1 year old niece in the car. Final bill was over $2300. Leaking gas !! how can that not warrant a safety recall? searching the web for information about others having the same problem I discovered others did. Please go to Cadillac forums for starters. Please review and advise. More safety issues for the Cts involved a seat belt that was worn down and a passenger front door that would not open from either the inside or outside. My 2009 Cts has 67k miles; however, on 02/24/2022 it was serviced at les stanford Cadillac for "timing chain failure" which cost me $3,371,27. Gm published service bulletin #11340c: special coverage adjustment-timing chain wear on 11/5/2012 that was sent to the dealerships explaining that the timing chain could wear prematurely but the document was not shared with the car owners. The make and models listed on the document includes: 2007 GMC acadia and Saturn outlook, 2007-2009 Cadillac Cts, srx, and sts, 2009 Buick enclave, Chevrolet traverse, GMC acadia and Saturn. The special coverage adjustment covers the condition described for a period of 10 years or 120,000 miles, whichever comes first. I sent a letter to the Cadillac customer service complaint department asking gm to pay for half of the repair bill ($1,685) but was denied stating that the special coverage had expired and that my VIN number was not included in the special coverage adjustment document. At that time, I told the reviewing agent that according to my written document all service maintenance has been completed timely by the same dealership, my average car mileage is 5,600 per year so retirees will surpass the 10 years before the 120,000 miles, and gm did not capture all VIN#'s since my car has such low mileage. Therefore, the time period should be waived, and all vehicles indicated on the 11340c document should be considered for reimbursement due to gm's knowledge of the premature timing chain failure even if the VIN numbers are not listed on the bulletin.
Second time timing chain failed Cadillac says 2007-2009 Cadillac timing chains have a recall 11340c except my VIN # car is not included in the recalls I had to pay for both repair $1600 and $2900 Cadillac should reimburse me.

Was told the timing chain was stretched by a service technician and it was covered by gm with an extended service campaign, 10 years or 120,000 miles. My vehicle had approximately 95,000 miles when the problem as diagnosed. A Cadillac dealer confirmed via a phone call the vehicle was covered. Upon visiting the dealership, I was told the vehicle make/model is covered but the VIN of my vehicle is not covered. The problem is exactly as described by the extended service campaign.

Warning light came on. I brought the vehicle to my mechanic and he said that the timing chain was the problem. The car has only 61000 miles on it.
Over the past two years, 4 of the 6 cylinders on this automobile have needed coil replacements on the cylinders. I have owned several gm vehicles and have not needed any repairs of this nature, and believe this may be a hardware defect. The effect has been intermittent loss of power, particularly when accelerating uphill at traffic speeds (50-55 mph). This forces the driver either to slow or to accelerate through this narrow speed band.
I had a p0008 check engine code come up on my car for timing chain issues. Gm issued a special extended warranty for 2008-2009 Cadillac Cts with this issue, but they stated I am not covered under this warranty, but it is the same problem as the TSB they issued.
The contact owns a 2009 Cadillac Cts. While driving approximately 30 mph, an unknown warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the timing chain was worn and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 52,594.
Regarding TSB 11340 (NHTSA reference- 10043857), which states, "if premature wear of the timing chain occurs on your 2007 model year GMC acadia; Saturn outlook; 2007-2009 model year Cadillac Cts, srx, sts; 2009 model year Buick enclave; Chevrolet traverse; GMC acadia; or Saturn outlook vehicle, equipped with a 2. 8l/3. 6l v6 engine, within 10 years of the date your vehicle was originally placed in service or 120,000 miles (193,000 km), whichever occurs first, the condition will be repaired for you at no charge" our 2009 Cadillac Cts with ~94,000 miles has been diagnosed with this failure; however, general motors refuses to make the repairs stated in the TSB at no charge in accordance with the TSB. My experience dealing with Cadillac over the past 2 days indicates that Cadillac had no intention of making the repairs that they have informed the NHTSA were appropriate. It is my observation that general motors had no intention of honoring the bulletin and only submitted the information to the NHTSA as a means to mitigate the negative public image from this engineering failure. General motors should not be permitted to manipulate public trust and abuse the resources of the NHTSA for their own marketing benefit. This is a deceptive practice and the government should require that the manufacturer abide by the stated resolution and not permit the manufacturer to abuse public resources.

My engine would not turn on when leaving for work. I did a check under the hood and found I was completely out of oil. My oil gage display was at the halfway mark which means I am still good on my oil. Also, the digitial display in my car says that I have 54% of oil life remaining. Somwhere within the car, the system wasnt reading the oil level accurately which caused me to believe my oil level was still good. At the moment my car is at the shop waiting for details. How can this issue be fixed to prevent this from happening again and to others?.
Gm 3. 6l timing chain stretch without warning. Had it failed at speed, it could have been a dangerous situation.
2009 Cadillac Cts. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle vibration/unexpected loss of power and transmission shifting and acceleration problems. The consumer stated the vehicle began shifting gears erratically, vibrating and lacked power. The condition appeared irregular and for some time, no trouble light appeared. Once a light finally appeared, the vehicle was taken to a Cadillac dealer who determined that all the ignition coils on one side of the engine were defective. The service representative explained that when one or more ignition coils fail, the engine would have a greater vibration and lack of power. In addition, the coil failure would cause the transmission to unexpectedly downshift to compensate for the loss of power and with multiple coil failures it may shift multiple times each time more power was needed to maintain the throttle speed. In July 2013, the consumer began experiencing the same performance issues. Again, no trouble light appeared. A trip to the dealer resulted in nothing being found, despite the service history of the vehicle. The condition continued and in August 2013. The trouble light appeared. The dealer found an ignition coil on the other side of the engine was defective.

The vehicle was taken back and forth several times to mcelwain motor car company Chevrolet (812 beaver Ave, ellwood city, PA 16117, (724) 824-1223) due to the wheels, wheel bearings, and brake system corroding. The contact had not utilized the emergency brake out of fear that it may not work when needed. Also, the service engine indicator illuminated the last time the dealer dropped off the vehicle. An independent mechanic stated that there were two diagnostic trouble codes for the timing chain. The manufacturer refused to honor TSB: 11340c (special coverage adjustment timing wear) even though the vehicle had less than 120,000 miles. The manufacturer indicated that the dealer may need to replace the timing chain and to have the vehicle repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer provided no coverage of the special adjustment campaign. The approximate failure mileage was 109,000.
