Seat Belt Problems of Cadillac CTS

My 2009 has 112,000 miles on it. Over a period of time we started to smell gasoline . Thought it may be simply from putting gas in the car. The smell got stronger. Fortunately we had to have a tire replaced. The tire service owner advised we had a major gas leak and advised us not to drive it far. End result was we had a fuel feed pipe that was leaking. Please know we had been driving our 4 year old nephew and 1 year old niece in the car. Final bill was over $2300. Leaking gas !! how can that not warrant a safety recall? searching the web for information about others having the same problem I discovered others did. Please go to Cadillac forums for starters. Please review and advise. More safety issues for the Cts involved a seat belt that was worn down and a passenger front door that would not open from either the inside or outside. Thank these things I feel cadilac should consider fixing due to milage before and after I purchased the cadilac due to the miles before and after purchase. Due to being 100% disabled since 2009, air bag & safety belt system light comes on when I have onstar diagnose the problem they said it has something to do with my seat belt system on passenger side which mind you isnt used often at all and cadilac will not help with the cost and was told by onstar it needs repairs ASAP because it could cause air bags to pop out while driving or not come out during a crash. Im afraid some times driving it. In the 7yrs of owning this I maybe put around 40,000 miles on the car its in good condition. Which lead me to the other problem due to miles. When I purchased the cadilac a few days later the check engine light came on it was the catalytic converter it was almost $800 it has two of them the dealer repaired it. Here the other day I had onstar do a complete system scan and the report showed the converter was in the process of going out again but just hasnt triggered my check engine lite. I was shocked because of the miles I drivewhich is under 6000 miles a yr and I use top grade fuel there isnt any way these converters should be going out they should have lasted for the rest of my life and the cars life I take very good care of it changing the oils on a regular bases and other cares are met but when talk to cadilac they didnt even consider my care and miles driven at all or find out why tne converter is needed twice since I owned the car when most cars never need converter replacement. Im 62 yrs old, these are concerns I have but mostly the treatment by cadilac (gm) the safety part being on passenger side that seat never hardly get used but could cause air bags to open while driving and two convertersin 6-7 years of ownership when most cars never need one and othhers just once. Which tells me theres a problem some where else causing it to not work properly, but it didnt matter.

Tl the contact owned a 2005 Cadillac Cts. The contact stated that while the driver drove at an unknown speed, she applied the brakes to avoid hitting an animal as a result the vehicle swerved, rolling over several times. The contact stated that no air bags deployed as and the driver's seat belt became unlatched as the driver was ejected through the rear window. The contact stated there were no warning lights illuminated while the failure occurred. The driver sustained a coma, broken vertebra, hip contusion, bruising and memory loss as she was transported to the hospital by ambulance. The front passenger suffered hip, chest, breast, waist, arms, shoulder, head injuries as well as the rear driver's side passenger sustained chest, hip, and nose injuries all occupants were transported to the hospital by ambulance. The contact was reading the accident information from a news paper article. The new mexico state police was present and a police report was filed. The fire department was also present. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot and deemed a total loss. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 114,000.

Vehicle displays �service rear axle� �service stabilitrak� �park assist temporarily unavailable� �automatic seatbelt tightening unavailable�. 4 separate and unique occurrences. Some have also included �reduced engine power�. Typically the messages come on and reduced power occurs after expressway driving, followed by stop and go city driving or traffic. Also ambient temps are over 80 degrees with each occurrence. Lastly engine bay is extremely hot after the service messages are displayed. Engine temperature gauge does not indicate overheating (displays under the halfway point of the gauge). I have 2 separate video documentations that can be uploaded to youtube. 1st occurrence resulted in cylinder head replacement under warranty. The next 3 occurrences have all happened after the warranty service. Dealership has been unable to replicate the issue after the car cools down. Cadillac customer service said a second dealership review was required even though the car was brought to the dealer with the above service messages present. Attached documents display first warranty service, and second record service messages being present. Similar TSB issued for the ats-v lf4 engine for �service rear axle� or �rear axle off�, also the lt4 engine has a TSB for engine overheating and going into reduced power mode when the charge air cooling system is not refilled properly via vac-n-fill method. This vehicle has a similar liquid to air, charge air cooling system, requiring the same type of fill method. Full disclosure I am a general motors employee.

My car alarm keeps beeping for no reason when parked. As soon as I start the car, the airbag light goes on. The dashboard warning light says that my tire is flat; so, I changed all four tires, and it's still giving drastically inaccurate readings often. Sometimes it says that my tire is flat-- 0 pressure, and sometimes, it says that it has low pressure. My programmed radio stations keep deleting from memory. I took my car to a repair shop to find out what's going on, and they can't figure it out.

While driving the vehicle the passenger seatbelt light comes on with or without a passenger being present. I took vehicle to the dealer and was told the passenger detection module was going out and when the seat belt light comes on the passenger side air bags are disabled meaning the airbags will not function if I were to get into an accident. . . . I was also told that this module is necessary because the module detects the weight of the person to determine if the person weighs enough to deploy the airbags. . . If airbags are a requirement should them working also be a requirement. . . . . I was that not enough people have complained for NHTSA to issues a recall. That's like saying not enough people have died to fix the problem.

While driving down the highway/freeway both driver and passenger side curtain air bags spontaneously deployed. I do not know as to why the air bags spontaneously deployed but I have seen other instances were this has occurred online.

The contact owns a 2005 Cadillac Cts. The contact stated that the front driver and passenger side seat belts failed to function properly. In addition, there were internal electrical failures on the driver's side function panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was notified of the failures and indicated that there was no recall to address the issues. The failure mileage was not available.

Service airbag light and warning indicator came on when car is started. Took to gm certified dealership for service. Was advised code b0058- right front pretensioner defective on passenger seat belt buckle. The dealership advised that this part is no longer available from gm and therefore they wouldn't be able to make repairs. Also advised that the air bags are disabled and will not deploy. Was told to contact gm customer service. After 3 weeks of lengthy telephone conversations, still no help from gm. Searched every online website and this part is not available. Please advise what if anything can be done to stress the importance of this issue with gm.

Tl-the contact owns a 2009 Cadillac Cts. The contact stated that when the vehicle was started, the passengers side air bag warning indicator was consistently illuminated. The failure recurred each time the vehicle was started. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was diagnosed that the front passenger seat belt pre-tensioner was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 19,000. Sw.

I was trying to adjust the seat belt clip (male part) on the drivers side rear seat belt. The clip was turned the wrong way on the seat belt. While trying to adjust the clip the lower part of the seat belt came apart from its anchor. I was stunned at how easily the seat belt detached. I came to the conclusion after inspecting the belt that there was no stitching in the belt where it should have been sewn together. It looks like the machine that attempted to sew the seat belt had no thread in it. The hole marks and sewing pattern are there but with no thread. Note: I am the second owner of the car. I purchased the car from a family friend who is a middle aged single person. I doubt the seat belt had ever been used by a rear-seat passenger.

The driver's seat belt is very difficult to disengage. Takes several tries and pushing front and back of the release lever.

Tl-the contact owns a 2012 cadilacc Cts. While traveling approximately 40 mph, the driver crashed in to the front passenger's side of another vehicle. The front passenger seat belt and shoulder attachment device separated which caused the occupant to move forwardly into the deployed air bag. The passenger sustained a broken right ankle. My 2007 model year Cadillac Cts vehicle had a condition where repeated flexing of the passenger sensing system mat in the front passenger seat has caused the mat to kink, bend, or fold. The flexing broke the connections in the mat. The front passenger airbag has become disabled. The passenger airbag status indicator on the rearview mirror shows that the airbag is off, the air bag indictor does illuminate, and a service air bag message does appear in the driver information center and has for years! I have repeatedly ask village Cadillac, service advisor: debbie henry to have the seat fixed. The problem with service advisor is that she looks at your recall records. Your records indicate that my VIN does not have any outstanding recalls, which is correct. What I have is a letter from Cadillac p. O. Box 909989 milwaukee, WI 53209-9989, stating that this mat can break and it has broken. Also, the plastic housing of the seat belt buckle is broken, which has started to fray the seatbelt strap. The vehicle was parked in the garage.

Was driving vehicle in sporting manner when the side curtain air bags deployed and the seat belt pretensioners fired. There was absolutely no roll over imminent. Safety devices went off completely unnecessarily.

The driver's seatbelt twisted on this '04 caddy Cts with 70k miles. The local repair shop told us to take it to the dealer. The dealer wanted hrs of labor guestimated at $170 to take it apart. Isn't it essential that a safety feature holds up. The car is mostly driven by a light weight woman who is very careful. I thought the manufacturer should warranty the seatbelt design longer! this is the first time this is happened in the 20 cars we have owned since seatbelts were standard. Are there any other such complaints?> these front belts come from the top of the seat.

Consumer has concern with the safety belt. The safety belt does not utilize a ratcheting style safety belt harness. The consumer had a professional install his child's safety seat but the belt would only hold temporarily. Any wiggling of the seat caused inches of slack.
